All-School Photo
On Sept. 21, the Brooks community will come together for our 2023-2024 all-school photo, with the class of 2024 school photo immediately following. In the coming weeks, we will be in touch as to how to purchase photos. The community will gather at 10:05 a.m. on the Class of 2020 Quad. The rain date is Sept. 25.

Save the Date: Sept. 30
Our first Community Weekend of the year was sadly postponed due to the storm that came through the area. However, we are excited to announce that we have rescheduled those events for the weekend of Sept. 30!
- Students will be expected to be back on campus to engage in all of the community-based activities by the start of the first activity (approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday evening).
- Boarding students will be expected to spend the night on campus.
- Day students are strongly encouraged to attend all on campus events.

Club Fair is Coming Up!
This year’s Club Fair will be held on Sept. 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Wilder Dining Hall. The Club Fair serves as an opportunity for students to learn about all of our club offerings for the 2023-2024 school year. Students have already been encouraged to connect with the Student Affairs office if they have any interest in starting a club of their own. Those proposals are due Sept. 16.

Religious Accommodations
As we begin a new academic year at the Brooks School, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the diverse religious traditions and holidays that are observed by our students, faculty, and staff.
We understand that some important religious holidays, such as Rosh Hashanah, Diwali, Yom Kippur, Easter weekend, and Eid al-Fitr among others, may fall on regular school days. While we may not have the day off from classes on these occasions, please know that we are committed to working closely with our students and families to accommodate observance and ensure that those who are so inclined may be able to participate in their faith and family traditions.
We recognize the significance of these moments and respect the importance of observing them with family and community. To that end, we encourage students and families to reach out to the Associate Head of School for Academic Affairs Susanna Waters, Director of Student Affairs Ingrid Knowles, and Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Terri Ofori to discuss accommodations or support needed to observe religious holidays. Our doors are always open, and we are here to listen.

Learn More About Music Offerings
Students are invited to come meet the amazing community of musicians at Brooks — on a new date and time due to last Friday's storm. On Sept. 15 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. there will be a gathering outside the Center for the Arts (facing Main Street) featuring ice cream and other drinks and snacks.
Members of the Brooks music faculty and student leaders from Brooks music ensembles will be on hand to answer any questions students might have about getting involved in our many music programs here at Brooks. So if your student is…
- enrolled in a music ensemble class (chamber orchestra, chorus, rock band, advanced rock band, jazz band, advanced jazz band)
- looking to take private music lessons
- hoping to audition for an all-district or all-state ensemble
- someone who writes or produces their own music
- interested in joining our a cappella group or gospel choir
- hoping to perform at open mic nights throughout the year
- looking to learn a new instrument you’ve never tried before
…then encourage them to come hang and meet and join the family!

Family Update Forms Due Tomorrow
Have you filled out your family update form yet? In an effort to keep our school records up to date, please take a few minutes to fill out our Brooks School Family Update 2023-2024 form. New families, please fill out the entire form and returning families, we ask that you share any edits or changes. This information is for internal school use only and is utilized to help make connections within our community. We request that you fill out this update by Sept. 15. We have seen a robust response to the Parent and Guardian Dinners with John Packard and seats are filling up quickly. Nov. 30 is already full and closed. Please sign up for one of the other dates: Sept. 21, Oct. 5 or Dec. 7. We look forward to seeing you at one of the dinners!

Family Weekend
Family Weekend will take place October 19 to 21, starting with a welcome reception for our third- and fourth-form families (classes of 2026 and 2027) on Thursday evening. More details to come, but we did want to share lodging information for those of you traveling. In addition, last year a few of our families had a challenging time finding car rentals, so if you need to rent a car, we suggest booking it early.

Admission Volunteer Opportunities
We would love your help in the admission waiting! Our program consists of having current parents and guardians meet and chat with prospective families during their campus tour and interview appointment. Year after year, we get rave reviews from the visiting families about how valuable these conversations are. There are also a number of occasions when a few volunteers would be helpful to the Admission Office. Would you like more information on what possibilities those are? To help with either of these opportunities, please reach out to Admission Office Assistant Sheila Konovalchik.
