Exchange Program Information

Brooks School's Exchange Program will offer five-week student exchanges to schools in Botswana, Hungary, Peru and Scotland this year. There will be a student information session in the Bowers Room tonight at 7 p.m. to review this exchange information and more.

There will also be an opportunity for family questions about Exchange during Family Weekend at the Signature Programs Drop-In on Oct. 4 at 3:15 p.m. Please be in touch with Director of Exchange Lisa Saunders for more information.

Sign In/Out with REACH

Our students have done a fantastic job so far making sure to submit REACH requests. The next phase of their onboarding is ensuring that they sign in and out on the REACH app when they leave/ return from an approved leave. Any reminders you can offer your student to sign in and out (SISO) when you pick them up or when they depart campus on a leave would be greatly appreciated.

Weekend Activities

Students will celebrate our first-ever Boathouse Bash on Saturday! There will be yard games, fire pits and a cookout down on the lawn, followed by an underwater-themed dance in the new  Demoulas Family Boathouse. See all the activities available in the Weekend Bulletin.

Individual School Photos

On Sept. 27, Mark Lawrence Photography will be on campus to take individual school photos for our students. Parents/guardians will receive a proof of their student(s)' photo to their email address 7-to-14 days after picture day. If you wish to purchase photos you will be able to order individual photos here beginning on Sept. 30.

Student Travel

Brooks will offer bussettes to Boston's Logan Airport and South Station at the start of each break. Families should plan their travel from either South Station or Logan. Please be in touch with Associate Director of Student Affairs Cora MacKenzie with any questions and review the School Breaks Planning Details to help you make plans.  

International students: Need plans for Thanksgiving break? Here are a few options:

Family Weekend Leaves

Brooks’ campus will remain open over all long weekends throughout the academic year. Boarding students who wish to remain on campus do not need to sign up to do so. We will assume students will remain on campus unless they submit a weekend leave request. 

Students wishing to depart campus for all or any portion of Family Weekend may depart after their last commitment on Saturday afternoon (including afternoon activities). They must return to campus no later than Oct. 7 by 9 p.m. Beginning on Sept. 28, students will have the option to submit a “Family Weekend Leave” request via REACH. 

Students in the Community Service afternoon activity program will share an Amazon wish list soon!

Gate Operations

• Brooks School's Main Entrance gate is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week. On weekends, the main gate closes at 7 p.m. on Saturday and does not reopen until Monday morning. The main gate is not manned after closure. 
• The Athletics Entrance gate is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday and the guard shack by the Athletic Center is manned after hours. The athletic gate is open 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and the guard shack at the Athletic Center is manned after hours

Arts

Last night, students in the Advanced Performance Studio class caught a production of Romeo and Juliet at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University!

Health & Wellness

Student Flu & Covid Vaccine Clinics on Campus

Student vaccine clinics will be held in the Student Center on Oct. 1 during lunch blocks, and on Oct. 13 and Oct. 28 during dinner blocks. No sign-up is needed; vaccines are available on a walk-in basis.

Students must have parental consent on file in Magnus, unless they are 18 or older. If you would like your student to receive a seasonal flu vaccine, updated Covid booster, or both, please encourage them to attend. Contact health@brooksschool.org with questions.
