Academics & Arts
The Exchange Program is Back!
Brooks' Exchange Program has re-launched this year after it was suspended due to the pandemic. We are currently hosting three students, Réka Horvát '24, Igor Sóti '24 and Hella Szarka '24 (shown above), who will be with us until Thanksgiving break from our partner school in Hungary. This year, exchanges with Brooks' partner schools in Hungary, Morocco, Peru and Scotland are planned. Students have an opportunity to attend information sessions on campus this month. There will also be an information session for interested families on the Saturday of Family Weekend. For more information, visit OnBrooks > Groups > Exchange Program Information or contact Director of Exchange Programs Lisa Saunders.
Introducing the New Tutor Prefects
The Learning Center is able to witness firsthand the benefits of peer-assisted learning and believes that peer tutoring promotes active learning and allows for greater subject understanding. The Learning Center faculty and our tutor prefects are therefore excited to introduce the Peer Tutor Program:

  • All peer tutors participate in a training program with Learning Center faculty before working with students.
  • Students can find peer tutors in the evening from 8 to 9 p.m. outside of the Science Forum during structured study hall.
  • Peer tutors are also available to be matched for one-on-one sessions with students in specific subjects.
  • This year's tutor prefects, from the class of 2023 (shown below, from left), are M.D. Olaoye, Mason Guthrie, Melanie Kaplan, Brodie Goodman, and Tvisha Devireddy.

While teachers should always be the first source of academic support, peer tutors are a great resource to support student learning. Students interested in using a peer tutor should reach out to Learning Center Specialist Bean Clark in the Learning Center.
Art Exhibit Opening
Tomorrow, Sept. 16, please join us for an art exhibit opening and artist reception from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Robert Lehman Art Center, located in the Luce Library. Artist Julia S. Powell will give a brief artist's talk at 7 p.m. All are welcome to join the special presentation!
Health & Wellness
Meet the New Peer Advisors
The Peer Advisor Program is a group of sixth-form students who were selected to ensure the best possible experience for all students and to promote the feeling of cooperation, camaraderie and support. The goal of the program is to strengthen mental and emotional health awareness at Brooks and to expand the accessibility of support. Director of Psychological Counseling Services Kimberly Cratty will host weekly meetings with the peer advisors as part of the training protocol. Brooks students are able to engage with individual peer advisors of their choice and have meaningful supportive conversations. If you have any questions, please contact Kimberly Cratty.
Physical Therapy at Brooks
The Health and Wellness Center team is pleased to offer physical therapy to students twice a week at the athletic center on campus. Bill Gordon, of Gordon Physical Therapy, will offer his services to students from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. To schedule an appointment with Gordon, students first need an order for physical therapy, which they can obtain by seeing the Director of Health and Wellness Melissa Donais, or through their personal doctor or specialist.
Family Information
Join Head of School John Packard and Fellow Parents for Dinner
After being unable to host them for the last two years, we are excited to bring back our parent and guardian dinner series this fall! Join Head of School John Packard and fellow parents for cocktails and dinner at Brooks, where he will bring everyone up to date on school topics and initiatives.

At this time, we will be hosting four dinners: On Sept. 29, Oct. 27, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. In order to maintain a more intimate feel, we will limit the number of attendees at each dinner to no more than 40. Please fill out the registration information accordingly and we will be meeting requests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please reach out to Director of the Brooks Fund and Family Engagement Mary Merrill with any questions about the dinner series.
