The parent newsletter comes to you every Thursday to keep you updated on school happenings. You can find a copy of it , as well as other resources -- from the school’s calendar to the dining hall menu -- on the Parents Resources page of Brooks' website . New this year, we will also periodically offer the newsletter in Spanish, here .
Aug. 26: New Family Reception
All new families are invited to join us at a reception on Aug. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of Kevin and Jeannie Sullivan P’22, P’23 (7 West Hollow in Andover, Mass). This annual gathering is an opportunity for families (parents and students) new to Brooks to meet each other. Head of School John Packard P’18, P’21 will greet families and address the group, as well. Please RSVP by August 21 . Attire is dressy casual. We look forward to seeing you!

OnBrooks is our online student information and learning management system. Click to read an introductory letter explaining how to login and navigate the site. Reminder: Registration Forms
Summer registration forms, ImPACT testing and student health information were due on July 15. If these forms have not been completed, more information and links are available in OnBrooks>Groups>Summer Registration. Magnus, our student healthcare management system, can also be accessed from your parent account in OnBrooks. Click on “Resources” and select the orange-colored Magnus logo to enter this system. 
See Your Student's School Schedule
Students' assigned courses with teachers and schedule blocks are visible in OnBrooks as of today. From your parent sign-in account, navigate to your child's information and select the Progress tab. Students have been notified by email.
Has Your Child Been Busy Reading?
Reminder to students: Continue working on summer reading and assignments! Check in OnBrooks>Groups>Summer Reading & Assignments for details about the required readings and classwork, as well as a letter from Academic Dean Susanna Waters on summer reading and work expectations. Deadlines vary so please read the information carefully. 
Don't Forget to Get Fall Textbooks!
Students and families can purchase books for fall courses now via Follett, the online textbook provider for Brooks School. Search for the texts by academic department and course name. A link to the Follett Bookstore has also been added to the Parents Resources page for easy access. For more detailed information, please refer to the email you received on July 17 from Academic Dean Susanna Waters. 
Immunization Information
Brooks Health and Wellness Center participates in the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS), a statewide, electronic system that keeps track of the immunizations that your child receives while in Massachusetts. Click here for more information. 

The Brooks Health and Wellness Center is required by law to share the meningococal immunization requirements with you. Please click here to read further about the requirements for Mass. If you have any questions, contact the Health and Wellness Center at (978) 725-6206.
Save the Date for Family Weekend
Family Weekend is Oct. 18 and 19 on campus. (An invitation will follow via email). Highlights of this event include an all-parent reception, mini-classes, advisor meetings, athletic contests, arts in progress and more! *Please note, Phillips Academy and Governor’s Academy are also holding their Family Weekend on these dates, so hotel rooms might book up quickly! Here’s a list of a few local lodging options .

Welcome to the P.A.C.: Parents’ Academic Corner!
This is our first installment of a monthly academic resource update in the newsletter. The Learning Center will provide educational information, helpful hints and tips, events, and technology tools that can help with academic work. We want this to be valuable to you, so please share your feedback and suggestions to help us improve. 
Back to School Time
Organization is key to preparing for the new school year. Take a look in OnBrooks under Summer Registration to find a list of recommended school supplies under the topic of "Packing Guide." 

Require an Academic Accommodation?
  • Parents of new students: If you would like to have your child continue with his or her academic accommodations from a previous school, please provide the Learning Center with a copy of a neuropsychological evaluation completed within the last three years. Documentation may be emailed to Director of the Learning Center Moira Goodman P’15, P’17, P’18.
  • Parents of returning students: If your child would like to request accommodations for the SAT or ACT, please contact Moira Goodman as soon as possible. This process takes six-to-eight weeks, and the testing cycle starts this month for the 2019-2020 academic year.
