Created to Pray
Today, we turn our thankful hearts to the cross that has provided a bridge to heaven for all that have accepted Jesus as their Savior. And Sunday, we celebrate that
Jesus is Alive
! Ponder these three little words that impact our eternity. First, Jesus is alive in heaven preparing a place for those who have accepted Him as their Savior. Revelation 21:3 says that heaven will be perfection with no tears nor pain. Hallelujah, perfection forever! Second, Jesus is alive on earth, for when He ascended into heaven, He promised to send a helper, His Holy Spirit, that would always be with us in our hearts wherever we go on earth. The Holy Spirit takes our prayers to our heavenly Father, as we were created to talk to God.
Often when someone is experiencing struggles and deflects the offer of food or service, they may use the phrase “just” pray for me. In this phrase, “just” minimizes the glorious privilege of prayer. In our winter sermon series, we were reminded that Jesus clearly taught the importance of prayer as He set forth the prayer model in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). And the night before He was crucified, He was on His knees praying to His Father (Matthew 26: -44).
So, as we march forward during our days of being away from our church family and social distancing all that cross our paths, we have the privilege of doing the most valuable thing we can do for each other – PRAY! Pray as you walk around the block, sit in your den, and as you wash your hands for 20 seconds 😊. Parents, as your family is together all day, model for your children praying throughout the day not just at mealtime and bedtime. Let us all employ our mighty opportunity to pray for those people in our world who are searching for God’s truths. Let us pray for family, friends, the BBC staff, the medical heroes on the frontlines, our military heroes preserving our freedoms, our country’s leaders, and those that are ill.
As we journey through this pandemic together, we celebrate that
Jesus is Alive
walking before us, behind us, beside us and always available to carry us.
