Dear Brookwood members,
With thoughtful discussion and on the recommendation of our Senior Pastor, Blake Dempsey, the Personnel Committee has recently approved an expanded ministerial role for Larry McCutcheon. This new role carries the title of Minister of Youth and Formation and transitions Larry into full-time ministry at Brookwood effective August 1, 2022. While Larry’s primary focus will remain in Youth ministry, the expansion to overseeing Formation is in line with our core value of being formed in Christ and will support our vision. You can see in the job description excerpt below the new areas of responsibility. Larry’s gifts and calling are consistent with this growth in his ministry at Brookwood.
Specific List of Responsibilities – Formation
- Help develop and implement Brookwood’s Intentional Discipleship Strategy, i.e. assist with annual overall discipleship strategy, use of digital platforms for discipleship, creative prayer initiatives, etc.
- Periodic preaching and teaching for various age groups.
- Assist with narrative emphasis – encouraging and facilitating members telling their stories in worship and online.
- Assist with mechanisms for Evaluation– connecting ministers and laity in conversation to reflect on current Formation practices and develop creative new means/ministries.
We would like to extend an opportunity for the church body to join us in affirming Larry’s expanded ministry. Therefore, we will have a brief special called business meeting at the end of the service on Sunday, July 17, during which we will share additional details and invite the church to show their support. Please join us if you are available.
In Christ,
Wendy Feild
Personnel Committee, Chair
