Suspected Avian Flu Update

The City and County of Broomfield has been informed about suspected Avian Flu infections in some of our bird populations. CCOB staff is working with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to take appropriate measures to keep our community and other wildlife safe. While the human health risks from Avian Flu are low according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CPW recommends that people do not touch dead or diseased wild birds and do not let your pets near them or their droppings. For more information on Avian Flu and to report dead or diseased birds, please visit www.Broomfield.org/AvianFlu.

The Field Open Space Restoration Work

In partnership with the Butterfly Pavilion, Broomfield is restoring native grasses at The Field Open Space, located between 10th Avenue, 3rd Avenue, Main Street and Ash Street. This project will transform the southwest quadrant into native grasslands, following plans approved in 2000 and updated in 2024. While it will take time, the effort will create habitats for wildlife, support pollinators and improve the environment. Learn more at Broomfield.org/NativeGrasslandRestoration.
