Please be mindful that information may change rapidly, even by the hour.
Public Health Update
  • You can always find daily updates on Broomfield’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard, along with information on regional hospital capacity and demographic details. Visit the state website for more information on hospital capacity, outbreaks and county case information. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) website updates cases daily at 4 p.m.
Free COVID-19 Testing: Broomfield’s Community Testing has added another day of testing! Testing will be held on Tuesdays from 2 - 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are required and can be made at Broomfield.org/COVIDTesting. Appointment slots are released 24 hours before the events. The appointment includes testing for everyone in your vehicle who is symptomatic and lives, works or goes to school in Broomfield. Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDTesting for information on Broomfield’s Community Testing events and to find other testing options.
  • A 14-day quarantine must be completed if you are exposed to someone with COVID-19, and a minimum ten day isolation must be completed if you test positive. Test results cannot be used as documentation to travel or to return to work in lieu of a 14-day quarantine or ten day isolation. Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDTesting for more information on quarantine/isolation requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions:
When will we see the first COVID-19 vaccine in Colorado?
  • Colorado placed its first order of the Pfizer vaccine on Dec. 3. Pfizer plans to ship the first vaccine allocations to states within 24 hours of the FDA issuing an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
  • The state is hopeful that the first round of vaccinations could go out as early as the end of December 2020.
How is Colorado distributing the COVID-19 vaccine?
  • The state will distribute vaccines in phases until it is more widely available. Because the initial supply of vaccines is expected to be very limited (around 46,000 doses), COVID-19 vaccine(s) will not be immediately available to everyone who wants one. Colorado’s draft plan for distribution describes that the first phase may include people most at risk for COVID-19, such as health care workers, first responders, and staff/residents of long-term care facilities and nursing homes. The final phase will likely be for the general population.
  • Right now, children and pregnant women are not included in any draft phase because no vaccine candidates are currently being tested in pregnant women and only one candidate is being tested in children 12 years and older. It is anticipated that the vaccine will be available to these populations once the FDA and CDC make the recommendation to do so. The distribution plan will evolve accordingly.
  • Colorado’s draft distribution plan and associated phases are based on federal guidelines and may change as necessary to most effectively, ethically, and fairly distribute the vaccine.
  • Visit Broomfield's COVID-19 vaccine page to learn more.
Swiss Cheese Model of virus transmission.
What do we do in the meantime?
  • The importance of mitigation strategies cannot be understated. Continuing to avoid contact with people you do not live with and continuing to remember the 3 Ws is highly important (Wear your mask correctly, Wash your hands, and Watch your distance). Because of the phased distribution plan, these mitigation strategies will need to be continued even when a vaccine becomes available. Each strategy has imperfections but when combined are more likely to be effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19.
