COVID-19 Vaccine Update
- On Friday, Governor Polis announced changes to the state’s distribution plan for COVID-19 vaccines. Residents 70+ and over remain a top priority with a goal of vaccinating 70% of 70+ residents by the end of February.
- The revised distribution plan makes people 65-69, along with child care providers in licensed child care programs and pre-K-12 educators eligible for COVID-19 vaccination starting Feb 8. Frontline essential workers and people ages 16-64 with two or more high risk health conditions will be eligible for vaccinations starting around March 5.
- Those who are 65-69 are asked to follow the same procedures as those in the 70+ group by visiting the state website to find a provider and access a sign-up form.
- School districts are already setting up partnerships with local health systems to provide vaccination to staff, so educators should work through their school district to find out more information.
- While it is exciting to be entering the next phase of vaccinations, there is still an extremely limited supply of vaccine, meaning that even once a priority group becomes eligible, they may not be contacted immediately for an appointment. Visit covid19.colorado.gov to learn more.

|
Sports Update
- Sports teams can play with 10 people or fewer for both indoor and outdoor settings; previously indoor organized sports were not allowed. Non-organized sports are limited to 10 people playing outside only. Eligible Broomfield leagues or clubs can apply for a variance to allow more than 10 players through the state health department. View eligibility details and submit variance requests. Other sports teams could expect to be eligible to submit a variance request by mid-February.
- School marching bands need to follow the Colorado Department of Education guidelines for the performing arts and follow the state’s indoor and outdoor event guidance when they perform for an audience.
- Visit covid19.colorado.gov/recreation for COVID-19 guidance on personal recreation.

Tests are available 2-6 p.m. on Tuesdays with appointment slots opening 24 hours in advance (appointments open now). Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDTesting to schedule an appointment, see a list of symptoms, and learn next steps if you test positive.

Vaccine events
- Large-scale vaccination events are happening in the state. It is exciting that Broomfield’s health system partners have the supply to stand up these events. Broomfield is not currently hosting these types of events but may in the future as the supply chain improves. Broomfield Public Health is not a public vaccination site, but performs a “gap-filling” role for local health systems. This means vaccinating people who don’t have access to vaccination through local health systems, including those with limited transportation or the uninsured. The City and County is prepared to expand the gap-filling efforts as vaccine supply picks up.
|
|
- All Broomfield residents will have an opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of access to insurance or legal status, race/ethnicity or mobility barriers. In the past month, Broomfield Public Health has coordinated COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the Anthem Ranch, The Avenues at Crofton Park, Broomfield Greens (including residents from Maryel Manor), Corbin Manor, Front Range Mobile Home Community, and Town Center Senior Apartments. All of these events target residents ages 70+ as part of the state’s distribution plan.
- Read the 01.29 email to 70+ for more vaccine updates.
- If you would like to sign-up for Broomfield’s Vaccine Interest form to be notified when the vaccine is available to your phase, you can visit Broomfield.org/VaccineInterestForm or call 720.887.2288.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I get to choose which vaccine I receive?
- Neither vaccine is recommended over the other. However, the vaccines are generally not interchangeable with each other or with other COVID-19 vaccine products. It is important that both the first and second dose are from the same vaccine manufacturer. Centers for Disease Control provides detailed profiles for each available vaccine on their Different COVID-19 Vaccines page at cdc.gov/coronavirus.
