Public Health Update
  • Broomfield has 3,034 total COVID-19 cases, according to the most recent data. You can always find daily updates on Broomfield’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard, along with information on regional hospital capacity and demographic details. Visit the state website for more information on hospital capacity, outbreaks and county case information. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) website updates cases daily at 4 p.m.

COVID case graph
  • Cases - 3 and 7 day average of cases, cases among long-term care facilities and metro area cumulative incidence. Last week Broomfield had 13 new cases.
Demographic graph
  • Demographics - demographic data among COVID-19 cases, include age, outcome by age, and race/ethnicity. So far this month, residents aged 20-29 made up 31.08% of cases.
Weekly death graph
  • Deaths - weekly deaths among COVID-19 cases. Last week Broomfield had no additional deaths.
Testing graphic
  • Testing - number of COVID-19 tests conducted and the positivity rate. On Jan. 9, Broomfield reported 422 tests.
Hospitlization graph
  • Hospitalizations - number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients for the North Central Region and ICU and ventilator usage. On Jan. 10, the North Central Region had 447 confirmed COVID-19 cases hospitalized.
Vaccine Distribution
  • Broomfielders 70+ can now schedule appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine through their health systems and pharmacies! View details on the state’s website.
  • While not every provider has the supply needed to vaccinate all eligible people at this time, those who do may be contacting existing clients directly to schedule vaccination appointments as they are able.
  • Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDVaccine to learn more about vaccines, where you fall on the distribution timeline, and to fill out a Vaccine Interest Form to be contacted when the vaccine becomes available for your occupation or age group.

Public Health Order update
Broomfield gyms and indoor fitness centers can allow more people inside their buildings following an updated Public Health Order from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This includes the Paul Derda Recreation Center and Broomfield Community Center. Schedule an appointment through B-REx.com.
  • Gyms can now operate at the same capacity levels as restaurants, which means they can up to 25% capacity, or up to 50 people per room, whichever is fewer.

Maintain Protective Measures!
  • Help keep children in classrooms, in-door dining open at restaurants and increased capacity at gyms and fitness centers available by remembering to do the following:
  • Wear a mask;
  • Watch your distance;
  • Wear a face covering; and
  • Wait on gatherings.

COVID-19 Testing
  • Are you feeling under the weather? If you live, work or go to school in Broomfield and are experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, get a FREE COVID-19 test at the Broomfield Community Testing from 2-6 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays. Make an appointment at Broomfield.org/COVIDTesting. You can also view a list of testing sites in the area if you are asymptomatic.

If I am 70+ and do not have a primary care physician, how will I get the vaccine?
  • If you have not been contacted by a healthcare provider, and you don’t anticipate your doctors office or pharmacy will reach out, visit Broomfield.org/COVIDVaccine to fill out a Vaccine Interest Form to be contacted when the vaccine becomes available for your occupation or age group.
Upcoming Events
  • City Council will convene tomorrow night, Jan. 12. View the agenda. Public participation via telephone will open at approximately 6 p.m. by calling 1.855.695.3744 and pressing star 3 (*3) to be placed in the queue. Written comments are requested to be sent in advance to council@broomfieldcitycouncil.org. This meeting will be presented live on the City Council website Broomfield.org/CityCouncil and through your local television, Channel 8 (Comcast customers only).
  • Telephone Town Hall: Mark your calendar for the next Telephone Town Hall Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. Residents can call 855.695.3744 the night of, or sign up to be called directly. RSVP and share the Facebook event for updates. Town Hall audio is streamed live on Channel 8 as well. If you are not able to make it, listen to the available recordings.

City Updates
  • Twenty-two Back to Business certified businesses will be able to operate in “Level Yellow: Concern” starting 12 a.m. Jan. 11, which allows the following to operate at 50% capacity, or 50 people per room, whichever is fewer:
  • Indoor restaurant seating (Last call will be 10 p.m., and bars that do not serve food will remain closed.)
  • Personal Services like salons
  • Gyms/fitness centers
  • Retail stores
  • Office-based businesses
  • Outdoor events (up to 175 people)
  • Your feedback is needed! What input, ideas, and suggestions do you have to keep momentum going around important community and City Council priorities in 2021?
  • Before the pandemic and based on nearly 300 community comments, City Council developed their 2020 priorities. While navigating the public health and financial crises caused by COVID-19, significant accomplishments have been made and next steps have been identified to continue progress on these important community goals into 2021.
  • Give your input and ideas on next steps through Broomfield.org/Priorities. City Council will discuss your input at their Focus Session in early 2021.Visit Broomfield.org/Priorities to take a survey on transportation.
  • The Broomfield Library will be closed the week of Jan. 18-22 for building maintenance and deep cleaning. During this closure, check out the amazing online Library resources available 24/7 such as the digital catalog, learning and research materials, and more at Broomfield.org/Library.
  • Applications will open tomorrow, Jan. 12, for small business (under 2.5 million in 2019 receipts) grants for businesses in the following sectors: restaurants, bars (including breweries), caterers, movie theaters, and gyms/recreation centers. Businesses that have received other state, local or federal relief may still apply, including businesses who have already received an Enhance Broomfield grant. Qualified businesses should apply before Jan. 22 at Broomfield.org/EnhanceBroomfield.
  • Learn more about your community and lend your time and talent by serving on a Broomfield board or commission. Apply to:
  • Oversee upkeep of the Brunner Farmhouse and gardens by signing up for the Brunner Farmhouse Citizen Advisory Committee;
  • Keep Broomfield sustainable by serving on the Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability;
  • Beautify Broomfield by joining the Public Art Committee; or
  • Advise library decisions by joining the Library Board.

Featured Programs & Classes
  • Call 720.887.2329 to listen to a guided meditation, description of an upcoming event, a joke and a riddle through the Broomfield Library’s Dial-and-Listen line, launched this week. Content changes weekly.
  • More Laser and Make appointments have been added for Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout January on B-REx.com.
  • Families with children (infants through 5 years) read, write, sing, talk and play while learning tips on early literacy; speech and language; health and nutrition; music and movement and early childhood development. Join classes on B-REx.com starting Jan. 15. during a Virtual Play & Learn Together.
  • No matter the weather, it's always a great time to hit the trails for a long walk or bicycle ride while abiding by social distancing guidelines. Check out the Open Space Park and Trail app which allows you to explore trails crossing in and out of Broomfield. Remember to use trail etiquette when enjoying Broomfield trails and Open Space.
  • Enjoy the great outdoors by hiking the Flatirons near Boulder, Colorado with a personal trainer on Saturday, Feb. 12. The trail draws you across a green meadow, then up through a notch between the first and second Flatiron. Learn more and register at B-REx.com.
  • Learn about carbon storage and carbon sequestration and how it can mitigate climate change impacts for a sustainable path for humanity. Broomfield Open Space will host a Speaker Series with Dr. M. Francesa Cotrufo at 7 p.m. Jan. 20. Register today.

  • Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDEconomicSupport to find more information on Enhance Broomfield, #ShopLocalColorado social media campaign, the Colorado Outdoor Winter Dining Program, the Energize Colorado Gap Fund and the Small Business Support Fund.
  • Child Care Providers: Child Care Relief Grant Program is through the Office of Early Childhood Colorado in the Department of Human Services. Centers must update their program information in the Child Care Status Portal by Jan. 15 and complete their applications and forms by Feb. 17.
  • Support for Residents needing Utility or mortgage, rent, or legal fees assistance due to eviction: In Broomfield assistance will be administered through the Broomfield FISH Family Resource Center. Visit BroomfieldFish.org or call 303.465.1600.
  • Bars, Restaurants and Food Trucks: Visit the Colorado Department of Revenue website to learn more about temporary deduction from state net taxable sales.
  • Minority-owned businesses: apply for assistance through the Minority Business Office of Colorado. The office will establish application and disbursement criteria for relief, loans, and technical support, as outlined in the bill. Businesses that are at least 51% controlled by an individual who is a member of a minority group.
  • Small businesses: Apply for COVID-19 Small Business Support by visiting Broomfield.org/EnhanceBroomfield. Broomfield is offering grant funding up to $7,500 to eligible Broomfield businesses. For details, see the City Update section above.
  • Residents:
  • The Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program offers emergency housing assistance to Broomfield residents. To learn more about how you can get help with housing related expenses, or to schedule an appointment with Broomfield FISH, call 303.465.1600.
  • Broomfield Human Services offers a number of benefits and assistance programs to help support eligible households. Applications for benefits can be made online at Colorado.gov/PEAK, by calling the Broomfield Benefits Team at 720.887.2290, or emailing yourbenefits@broomfield.org.
  • Donations continue to be necessary to support the work of local nonprofit organizations providing services in response to COVID-19. Donate to the Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund through the Broomfield Community Foundation today.
