Yesterday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment released DRAFT proposed guidelines for restaurants to stakeholders. Stakeholders can submit comments to this draft through Friday, May 22 using this online form. Once final, these guidelines will be used when it is safe to start easing COVID-19 related safety restrictions for restaurants. On May 25, the state will decide if restaurants can begin reopening and at what level. This date does not reflect when restaurants may or may not open.
Frequently Asked Question
  • Is it safe to travel for the holiday weekend?
  • It is not recommended to take a "Colorado vacation." A tenant of Safer at Home is to stay at home as much as possible, and locally recreate. If you have to leave Broomfield, please use extra caution to minimize interactions with a new community, like stopping at a gas station or using a grocery store except for emergency situations. The state is asking that we stay within 10 miles of our homes.
  • Essential travel means leaving your home to go to places for necessary tasks, errands and activities, to get food or necessary equipment and supplies, transport kids for a shared parenting arrangement or child care, or go to work when required to be in the workplace. If you aren’t absolutely sure you need or are required by your work to do it, you probably don’t need to do it.
  • Trails and open space are open for use in Broomfield, but please keep in mind that shared amenities such as playgrounds and pavilions are not. Follow the recommendations for safety while using the trails and open space and recreate locally.
City Updates
  • Ballots were transmitted on May 15 to 264 overseas and active military Broomfield residents, meeting the Federal guidelines (45 days before the election) despite multiple Colorado Supreme Court cases which delayed the ballot content certification by eight days. State / Federal Updates
  • Colorado became the first state in the nation to execute an updated automatic voter registration system. Colorado has joined 17 other states (and District of Columbia) in approving automatic voter registration. Colorado does something more, though, real time voter registration updates from over a dozen sources of information. This ensures that we deliver voters’ ballots to the correct addresses and reduces extra postage from returned mail.
  • Thanks to increased access to testing supplies, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is encouraging anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 to speak with a health care provider and get tested. Colorado’s state lab has acquired significantly more testing supplies and has adequate processing capacity. This means that the state as a whole, including private partners, has the capacity to test all people with COVID-19 symptoms, as well as to expand surveillance testing. More information is here.
