On September 22, 2022 the Michigan Data Hub (MiDataHub) will host a 90-minute webinar from 10:30 a.m. to Noon on this year’s benchmark assessments reporting requirements. The session will walk participants through the benchmark legislation (Public Act 144 of 2022,section 104h), district reporting options, new processes, items to review in the MiDataHub cockpit, and relevant timelines. Time will be allowed for questions and answers at the end of the webinar. The session will be limited to 300 attendees, and a recording will be made available on the Michigan Data Hub training page.

The MiDataHub team identified numerous districts during last years submission of data that were using a district specific ID that wasn’t the UIC or District Student Id (from the SIS)  to identify students in the rostering files used in the four MDE identified assessments. 

This posed a challenge for us as MiDataHub relies on either the UIC or District Student Id to uniquely identify students and their assessment records in the ODS. In most cases, we were able to work with the district in providing a file that contained the district specific ID used and either the UIC or District Student Id for us to do a match on and run the import. Unfortunately, this caused delays (sometimes weeks) for districts to provide the aggregate data.

Moving forward with the 2022-23 school year, and in particular the timing of the Return to Learn requirements we are asking that districts please verify that when rostering students to please either use the UIC or District Student Id

Public release
State assessment results are now available to participating Michigan Linked Educational Assessment Reporting (MiLearn) districts, simultaneous with the assessment public release.  Spring 2022 M-STEP, MI-Access, WIDA, and Early Literacy and Mathematics Benchmarks Assessments reports are viewable by authorized students, parents, and educators electronically.

What is MiLearn?
The Michigan Linked Educational Assessment Reporting Network (MiLearn) is a Michigan Department of Education service that delivers state assessment data electronically to student, parents, and educators directly through the district's Student Information System (SIS). MiLearn is updated daily using the Michigan Data Hub data to reflect student enrollment changes.

MiLearn is a free service available to all Michigan school districts.  It provides a convenient, year-round tool for educators, parents, and students to view multiple years of state assessment reports.  It is also convenient since users access the system directly through their SIS with no second login information needed.

How does my district join MiLearn?
If your district has not already completed the work to use MiLearn, there’s good news.  The steps necessary to add MiLearn to the resources your districts make available to educator, parents, and teachers can still be completed before the public release.   MiLearn supports the five major SIS vendors (MISTAR-Q, Skyward, PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, and Synergy) and we will walk you through the setup process.

When submitting an email to for assistance with an issue you are experiencing, please remember to include a few, critical pieces of information that will help expedite the resolution of your issue.

Name - Name of individual requesting or in need of assistance

Contact information - Email or Phone Number of individual requesting assistance

District - District where the issue is occurring. This information is helpful as we have individuals across the state that oversee support for multiple districts. It also will allow us to evaluate if the issue is occurring on our end as well. 

Issue/Question - Please provide as much detail as possible on the issue you are experiencing. It is very important to be as transparent as possible with the issue so the support team doesn’t need to respond back to help fill in the gaps prior to providing a resolution. If possible please don’t hesitate including screenshots, video recording, browser type, etc.

A few other helpful tips when submitting a ticket are:
One support request per email: If you have several requests please submit a separate ticket for each request. This will help expedite each request as not all requests are handled by the same individual. 

Descriptive Subject line: Including a brief summary of the issue you are experiencing in the subject line of the email will help us expedite and determine the urgency and assignment of ticket. 
Monthly MDH Meetings with SIS Vendors
Monthly MiDataHub meetings with Student Information Systems vendors:
The MiDataHub team facilitates monthly 30 minute meetings with all SIS vendors connected to the EdFi API. During these meetings the development teams from each SIS share updates with attendees on the MiDataHub integration, address questions and issues your district might be experiencing, and discuss new and upcoming features.
