The MiDataHub SSO and Launchpad provide easy access to an ever-growing list of applications. Current users may have an account that we have created by adding them as a user in the cockpit application. This creates what is called a “MiDataHub Login”. However, districts are increasingly choosing to create a “Federated Login”, which essentially allows your district users to use their own Microsoft AD or Google login credentials to log into applications that use our SSO. This is a requirement for districts that are using the MiRead application, as it allows for easy PD for teachers as they don’t have to struggle to log in. Other applications that work on the SSO currently are the data hub cockpit, dashboards, Algebra Nation, Discovery Education and MTRAx. Other applications, such as Xello, are in the process of connecting. If your district would like to federate your logins, please visit our

for more details.
In addition, you may be aware that the MiLearn system, created by MDE, also uses our SSO; however, that is leveraged in a slightly different way as it allows not just students and staff to access resources, but parents as well. Whereas our usual SSO usage relies on a person’s email address, the MiLearn usage relies on district code and user ID to identify the person accessing. We are working on functionality to allow an email address to be securely associated with a MiLearn connection, so that any users coming in through that method can also access resources that they have authorization to access. As that functionality is completed and tested, we will provide an update with instructions on how to utilize that method of access.
The bottom line - using a federated login will save your district users the need to manage yet another login.
