With schools open, high school students know the SAT/ACT tests and college applications aren't far behind. In its Ready for College programs, Broward County Library, with the support of the Broward Public Library Foundation, provides expert advice and guidance on these topics.

The Library's FREE SAT/ACT Workshops for College-Bound Students help hundreds of students each year to prepare for the SAT and ACT tests that are so critical to earning admission to a Florida university. In eight-week sessions, now conducted virtually, the students take practice tests and learn test-taking strategies from Alberto Howe, of Affordable College Solutions. The series is comparable to expensive test-prep courses or college-preparedness courses. The next SAT prep sessions begin on Oct. 11.

College readiness workshops run on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, with additional one-on-one office hours available for students to receive direct support and answers to their most pertinent questions. These classes’ help students learn how to apply for scholarships and financial aid, craft essays for all their applications, boost their extracurricular resumes, and decide which majors to look into once attending college. Each College Readiness workshop is offered by The Scholarship Plug.
