April 2024
A monthly community newsletter about life in Broward County and for residents and visitors to get the latest information on services, programs and events.
Residents are encouraged to visit their local library to explore during National Library Week (April 7-13). “Ready, Set, Library!,” the theme for this year, promotes the idea that in the fast-paced world we live in, libraries provide a space to connect with others, learn new skills and focus on what truly matters.

Broward County Library’s 37 branches offer a wide array of resources including entertainment and technology, virtual and in-person classes/trainings for business, education and personal/professional development. They also offer events and programs for all ages and so much more…all for free with your library card. Get ready to explore, become inspired and connect with your library during National Library Week.
If you’re a Broward County Library cardholder, don’t forget to pick up your free solar eclipse glasses for the event on April 8. Not a cardholder? Sign up for free
A time to speak out and support survivors of sexual assault and child abuse. According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, every 68 seconds a person experiences sexual assault in the U.S. According to the National Children's Alliance, more than 600,000 children are abused in the U.S. annually. When it comes to sexual assault and child abuse, silence is not an option.
The Nancy J. Cotterman Center is Broward County's only certified Sexual Assault Program, Accredited Children's Advocacy Center and Child Protection Team. It improves and enhances the quality of life for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse through effective forensically sensitive interventions, implemented by professionals specializing in the fields of sexual assault and child abuse.

Last year, NJCC helped 1,015 children and received 932 sexual assault helpline calls.
Residents can help raise awareness for sexual assault and show support to survivors by wearing jeans on “Denim Day,” Wednesday, April 24.
