Human trafficking is a bigger problem than everyone thinks. In fact, the State of Florida ranks third in all reported cases of human trafficking in the United States.

The new Nancy J. Cotterman Center is now open for services and provides a safe haven for survivors of sexual assault, child abuse and human trafficking, and their families.

Still Have Your Christmas Tree Up?
Give your Christmas tree a new life by participating in Broward County Parks free Chip-a-Tree program. Simply remove all your decorations from your tree and drop it off at a participating park by January 15. The mulch will be used for landscaping throughout the park system. Artificial trees are not accepted.

Food & Wine Festival

The Visit Lauderdale Food & Wine Festival brings all of Broward's best chefs to center stage for this premier culinary event. You'll have the chance to meet up and comers along with some of your favorite celebrity chefs during the week-long festival. There are even culinary classes for kids! Tickets range from $50 for classes and seminars to $225 for the grand tasting on the beach.
Follow the Light to Ignite

South Florida’s most exciting, family-friendly festival of interactive art and technology is coming back to Broward brighter than ever. Presented by the Cultural Division in partnership with MAD Arts, Ignite Broward is a five-day festival featuring immersive and interactive light sculptures and installations in Fort Lauderdale and Dania Beach. Use #IGNITEBroward on social media.

Martin Luther King Jr
County government offices will be closed in observance Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 15. Many online services will still be available at Broward.org.
Property taxes must be paid no later than April 1. Residents can take advantage of a 2% discount if paid in full during January. Payment can be made online, by mailing a check or in person.
Broward County Parks have adjusted its gate fees for regional parks. The new fee for weekends and holidays is $3 per vehicle for up to eight people. The changes will help to support ongoing efforts to maintain, improve and preserve the County’s parks.
Attention Panthers fans! Looking to celebrate the "Cats" some more? Broward County Library and the Florida Panthers have partnered on a new, limited-edition library card design with the team logo. Pick yours up at any library location, while supplies last.
Call for Creativity 🎨
The Broward County Cultural Division Public Art & Design Program and the County's Aviation Department are putting out a call for artists to design and install a custom water feature in Terminal 2 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The selected artist or team of artists will design, fabricate and install an original and innovative architecturally integrated artwork that creates a calming and soothing effect on passengers. The project is open to all professional artists. The deadline to apply is January 28.
