LANDSCAPING WITH NATIVE PLANTS
by Bruce Crawford, Director of Rutgers Gardens
Bruce Crawford is the Director of Rutgers Gardens, a botanical garden located at Rutgers University, in New Brunswick, where he is also an adjunct professor in Landscape Architecture at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The 180 acre public garden includes designed gardens, woodlands and open fields. Bruce had his own garden design/build business for nearly 25 years that specialized in plantings for year-round interest. His gardens have been published in Fine Gardening , and he has written numerous articles in newspapers, including Gardeners News . He has a strong interest in telling the story of plant evolution and how the environment, changes in geography, and the development of various animals have impacted plants over the past 400+ million years. Bruce loves plants and gardens and enjoys talking about them. He lectures frequently to various groups and for continuing education programs.
