Fighting Hate From Home: Extremism & Political Violence in America: Current Landscape and the Future Outlook
Tuesday, January 21, 2020
2:30 PM
In the wake of the January 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol and on the eve of the Presidential inauguration, we are facing a critical time for the fight against extremism and antisemitism. We are honored to welcome U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey to discuss these dangers with Oren Segal, the VP of ADL’s Center on Extremism. Rep. Sherrill, who sits on the House's Armed Services and Science, Space and Technology Committees, is a military veteran and former Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Segal and Rep. Sherrill will analyze the anger and vitriol we saw during the attack on the Capitol, what drove things to that boiling point, and what comes next as we face an extremist threat that appears to have significant staying power. They will share insights about who these militants are, how to disrupt the dangers they present, and how to reduce their ongoing reach.
ADL also wants you to be part of this conversation during the Q & A segment, so please bring your questions.
Please sign up below to join us today. All registrants will be emailed a link to the recording to re-watch and share.

Resilience: A Holocaust Survivor Reflects on Life During the Pandemic
Tuesday, January 26, 2021
11:00 AM
In spring of 1941, the Germans invaded Soviet-occupied Poland, forcing Jews into ghettos a few months later. In fall of 1942, Toby Levy and her family went into hiding until June 1944 when they were liberated by the Red Army. Today, Ms. Levy, a retired accountant and a volunteer docent for the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, remains hopeful that the COVID-19 pandemic will not steal her last years just as the Holocaust stole her youth. Join Ms. Levy on January 26, for a special conversation in the lead up to International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Read Ms. Levy’s powerful, poignant, and timely opinion piece in The New York Times by clicking here.
