Our first "pre-meeting" will be Feb 28 at the Ward III office, beginning at 5:00PM. Our Safety Committee will be meeting with TPD CSO Hinthorne with specific questions about reporting, data collection, and homeless encampment protocol. You may wish to join if you have concerns/questions.

Joanne, our Clean Committee head thanks the neighbors who came out to help, and the donuts were yummy!

Don't think others have already done the reporting.

THANK YOU MR. CLICK

and thank you all who bought tickets!

The Jim Click Raffle was a great success; however, no one in Jefferson Park won—sorry! The raffle donated a sum of the money collected back to all participating non-profits. Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. recently received a $605 check for neighborhood projects! Your participation made this happen!

Getting ready for the Plant Sale

First weekend in May -

preparations underway

TO DONATE If you have pots or potting soil that you no longer need, please drop them off at 1641 E. Waverly St. The best place to leave your donations is on Warren by the blue recycle bin. We also can use broken clay pots, so don’t toss them out, bring them on over.

GARDEN MATERIALS: Clay or ceramic pots, potting soil, tools, gloves, hoses, interesting containers like metal watering cans, popcorn tins, shovels, rakes, anything that we can put a plant in, etc. Last year we had two red wagons full of succulents for sale.

PLANT CUTTINGS: Now is the time for cuttings to get well rooted before the sale. We can take the cuttings, or you could donate the parent plant, and we will do it.

DONATIONS TO POTTING SOIL: Another option is to donate $ towards the plant sale. Last year we made $10,000, so think about how much potting soil that took to fill all those pots.

Pima County teams up with United Way

for free tax assistance

If you have a family income of less than $79,000, you might be eligible for help preparing your state and federal taxes this year. Starting Feb. 5, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer free tax-preparation assistance to individuals and families who meet the income qualifications.

This year, VITA is offering three different tax-preparation options for taxpayers to choose from:

  • You can do a traditional “one and done” meeting with a tax preparer, which usually takes about an hour.
  • You can bring your paperwork and review it with a tax preparer. Then, a volunteer will prepare your tax returns. Once you’ve signed them via email, VITA will electronically file them for free. The initial review takes about 30 minutes, and the results are ready within 2-3 weeks.
  • You can take a DIY class to learn how to prepare your own tax returns. Six classes are available and space is limited; visit www.unitedwaytucson.org/vita to register.

Appointments are available and have priority. Walk-ins are on a first-come, first-served basis. You must bring a picture ID, a Social Security card for each family member, proof of income, your account and routing numbers (for direct deposit of your refund), and—if you received the Arizona Families Tax Rebate—Form 1099-MISC from the Arizona Department of Revenue.
