Open Studio Model

Often times when people in the community first learn about DLAC, they always wonder what we mean when we say we facilitate "Open Studio" art groups.

Open studio is a flexible art group format where participants can choose what they want to create, work at their own pace, and use a variety of available materials. Instead of following a single guided project, each artist is supported in developing their own ideas and creative direction. It’s less about making the “right” thing and more about making your thing.

This flexible environment encourages participants the freedom to create at their own pace and explore the projects that interest them most. And somehow, that freedom is exactly what makes the art come alive.

Art has a way of meeting us where we are. 💙

For many people, creating isn’t just about making something beautiful. It’s a way to slow down, express feelings, build confidence, connect with others, and find a sense of calm in the moment. Sometimes, a brushstroke or a splash of color can communicate things that words cannot.

At Donna Lexa Art Centers, we believe everyone deserves a place where they can create, connect, and feel supported. 🎨✨

If you or someone you know is looking for a creative outlet and a welcoming community, we invite you to visit our website and complete a participant application to learn more about joining us.
