A Few (Thousand) Friends Joined Us At Camp

On June 11th, the gates of Seven Ranges Scout Reservation opened once again for Summer Camp! There are more than 3,000 participants discovering adventure and forging new skills in the outdoor classroom while building new friendships and creating unforgettable memories. The energy and excitement at camp can be felt at Thunderbird Hill, in the Dining Hall, and around every bend in the trail. Summer Camp has returned.

Not only are more kids coming to camp, more kids are joining Scouting! In the last 12 months Scouting in the Buckeye Council has grown by more than 7% with a 22% increase in Cub Scouts leading the way. This growth is fueled by an excellent recruitment campaign last fall, and by incredible unit programs delivered by volunteer leaders that retained scouts.

Be prepared to continue growing your unit and fueling your programs by attending one of our July events designed to equip you with all the tools needed for success. On 7/22 and 7/29 Popcorn University and Join Scout Night Kickoff events return. Here, unit leaders will get the latest information, campaign kits, new popcorn samples, and will also walk away with resources to promote both popcorn and recruitment, including posters, and buddy cards. Plus, person who attends will have a chance to win prize packages that include tools to directly support your fall campaigns like canopies and wagons!

Unit Leaders Are Invited to the Join Scout Night Kickoff & Popcorn University!

In order to excite new families and boost popcorn sales, make sure to attend the upcoming Popcorn Universities and Join Scout Night Kickoffs on 7/22 at Stark State and 7/29 at Gorman Rupp.

Not only will you get the latest information, campaign kits, new popcorn samples, but you'll be entered for a chance to win big! Each leader who attends will be entered to win one of several super-campaign kits to outfit you with tools to capture excitement at open houses, show and sells, and community events.

There's Still 4 More Weeks of Camp!

The summer camp program at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation delivers the adventure, fun, and activities that are promised to every youth that joins Scouting. Scouts of all ages can extend their summer at Seven Ranges in a number of ways:

Cub Scout Summer Camp: This 4-day, 3-night camp will give Scouts the ultimate summer camp adventure! At each camp, Cub Scouts will participate in shooting sports, games, crafts, campfires and spend quality time with friends and family!

Second Week of Camp: Attend a second week of camp for half-price! Come back to earn additional merit badges and attend with our provisional troop. Learn More in the Leader Guide

SPL2B Program: The SPL2B program is a chance for a Senior Patrol Leader to come to camp FOR FREE a week or two before their troop and work on advancement and camp honor requirements. By coming to camp early and staying with a host troop, a SPL will be able to give their own troop the attention they will demand when they are in camp.

Volunteers Needed at the Buckeye Council Office

We are looking for volunteers to come to the Buckeye Council on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 9:30am-2:00pm to assist with preparation for fall recruitment and the popcorn sale. This includes: stuffing envelopes, cutting buddy cards, assembling & disassembling packets, moving boxes, etc. If interested, please contact us to learn more!
Scout Executive Minute

It's good to be back. Back in the Dining Hall singing Trail the Eagle. Back at Retreat when the bugle sounds. Back on the trail on Friday night. Summer camp has returned to Seven Ranges and brings with it hope for our future. The smiles at camp signal that there is no end of the adventure in sight.

Rebuilding our programs on this foundation is a critical mission for all of us. Please plan to join us at the end of the month as we partner together to invite every eligible youth to become a Scout. We're excited about the Join Scout Night campaign plan rolling out at those events and look forward to sharing them with you. Together we will continue Scouting Ahead to ensure that today's Scouts and those who will join this fall share in the adventure and excitement that kids are having right now at Summer Camp.
