Budget 2018- Ireland Active Submission 

Budget Day is tomorrow 10th October and last week we submitted our key asks from Minister Donohoe and government:

1. Keep the 9% VAT rate for the leisure and fitness sector
2. Extend the Exemption from VAT for swimming lessons to all exercise programmes for children and adults and consider a change to a 0% VAT rate
3. Reduce the tax burden on employers and employees by Removal of Benefit in Kind for leisure centre and gym membership
4. Support Ireland's sporting infrastructure with annual investment in Sports Capital and Local Authority Swimming Pool programmes
5. Ringfence a certain portion of tax income received from the new Sugar Tax for programmes directed at education in schools around nutrition and physical activity

National Fitness Day 2017

Thank you to everyone who signed up for  National Fitness Day 2017. The day was a great success with over 200 leisure centres, gyms, schools and workplaces getting involved.

Ireland Active Conference and White Flag Awards  
The Ireland Active Annual Conference and White Flag Awards will take place at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on Friday 17th November.

Data Protection
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)  will come into force on the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive. Organisations involved in data processing of any sort need to be aware the regulation addresses them directly in terms of the obligations it imposes. IHRSA London Conference 23-26 October- Ireland Active member discount

CARA National Inclusion Awards

It's time to submit your entries for the CARA National Inclusion Awards.
CARA is continuing to recognise organisations and people who enhance participation opportunities for people with disabilities in Sport, Physical Activity and Physical Education throughout Ireland.
This year we are looking forward to find out what part do you playin the area of inclusion.

How to apply?
  • Capture - take video footage and/or photos of your activities and answer three questions about your work in the last 12 months to complete your application.
  • Submit - the application process is online.
  • Recognise - gain national recognition and the opportunity to celebrate at the Awards' Ceremony in Dublin on the 30th November.
