Budget Crisis Impacting States Amid COVID-19
September marks the sixth month since coronavirus took hold in the Northeast region. In early March when we first reported on this, there were six reported positive cases of COVID-19 in the Northeast states (one each in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and two each in New York and Rhode Island). Cases began to rise rapidly throughout the region,
House Introduces CR

House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey today introduced Continuing Resolution (CR) legislation to keep the government open through December 11, 2020. The proposed legislation includes provisions for a one year surface transportation authorization extension at FY2020 levels, shoring up the Highway Trust Fund, Transit and Airport and Airway Trust Fund. The House is expected to vote on the continuing resolution this week.

House set to Vote on Climate Focused Energy Legislation

On September 16, House leadership unveiled an almost 900 page energy package billed as a response to climate change. The Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act, is said to fund research and development required to work toward a clean energy economy, invest in updating American energy innovation infrastructure, and work to reduce harmful carbon emissions to net-zero pollution.
Dr. Anthony Fauci Joins Governor Scott on COVID Update
On September 15, Governor Scott had Dr. Fauci join him in discussing Vermonters' success in suppressing COVID-19 and the importance of keeping our guard up as we move into fall/winter. Scott said, "I'm thankful for his leadership and welcome him to Vermont any time."
