Village of Buffalo Grove Takes Proactive Steps Relating to COVID-19
In response to the evolving situation relating to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) the Village of Buffalo Grove is taking several proactive and precautionary steps to help prevent the spread of the virus in the community.

The Village will be disinfecting common areas in all Village facilities. Effective immediately, in order to ensure the health and wellness of Village staff and first responders, the Village is suspending non-essential, in-person services. These services include (but are not limited to):
  • Car seat checks
  • Presentations to community groups
  • Blood pressure checks at the fire department
  • Courtesy leak checks for residential indoor plumbing
  • Citizens Police Academy - class on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 is canceled (future classes will be evaluated based on the latest information)
  • Ride-a-longs
  • Tours of all Village facilities
  • Any in-person services that can be reasonably provided by phone
The Village is also recommending residents pay water bills online at vbg.org/water-bill instead of paying them in person at Village Hall. Another option is for residents to drop off payments in the drop box located behind Village Hall, 50 Raupp Boulevard.

While the Village is still processing permits and completing inspections, residents are encouraged to cancel inspections if someone in the home is sick. Village staff will work with residents to accommodate schedules and ensure no fines are incurred due to rescheduling.

Residents and Village employees are also strongly advised to follow safety recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, including thoroughly washing hands throughout the day, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning common surfaces with disinfectants regularly, self-quarantining if sick, and keeping a social distance of a minimum of three feet from other individuals in public places.

The Village has been notified that some area school districts have chosen to close their campuses in order to help to prevent the spread of COVID-19; others are currently considering the same measures. Residents are advised to visit their school district's website for more information.

As the information regarding COVID-19 continues to change, residents are strongly encouraged to visit the Illinois Department of Public Health website here for additional preventative safety steps to take, and for the most up-to-date news and information.

For questions about COVID-19, residents can call the Illinois Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Hotline at 800-889-3931 or email [email protected]. These resources are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents with questions about Village services should call the Village at 847-459-2500 or visit vbg.org.
