Buffalo Jewish Federation's Annual Meeting will take place at Northland Workforce Training Center (NWTC). The meeting will focus on the work of JCRC, and present the Ann Holland Cohn Community Impact Award and the Judith & Daniel Kantor Professional Service Award. Special guest speaker, Marnie Fienberg, founder of 2forSeder. Read more HERE .

EARLY VOTING THIS MONTH

NYS has now joined 39 states and the D.C. in early voting options!

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
For the November 5th election, voters must be registered by October 11th !!

9 DAYS OF EARLY VOTING:
Saturday October 26 - Sunday November 3
Weekdays: Noon - 9 PM
Weekends: Noon - 6 PM
Tallying will take place at 8 PM on Nov 5 and released to the public after polls closed at 9 PM.

WHERE DO I VOTE:
There are 37 voting sites (potentially different from the last time you voted). During early voting, you may vote at ANY of the open sites. On November 5th, you have to use your designated site .

Valentino Dixon - Drawing My Way to Freedom @ Burchfield Penney Art Center

 Exhibition PREVIEW takes place on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 PM with an artist's talk at 7 PM. Exhibit continues through Sunday, March 29, 2020. We're partnering with the Burchfield to amplify Valentino's story to increase education, awareness and action around Criminal Justice Reform.

Valentino Dixon is a Buffalo artist who served 27 years for a crime he did not commit. His message is one of resilience, gratitude and sentence reform. Reach his story here .
Thanks to the Goldman/Golden Philanthropic Fund for sponsoring the exhibit and opening event. Valentino will also be exhibiting at the Levy and Daniel Family Art Gallery JCC Holland Building at the JCC Book and Arts Fair in Spring 2020. More info about the Burchfield Penny Art Center Exhibit here.

 The first anniversary of the Pittsburgh shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue is Sunday, October 27, 2019. The Jewish community of Pittsburgh will hold a commemorative day of service, study and community. Find out more here .
Complete Census Count 2020
We're partnering with the Buffalo & Erie County Census Committee to ensure that all communities, especially those that are underrepresented, will be included in the April 1, 2020 household count. The US Constitution mandates that all people be counted every 10 years. Everyone should respond to the census regardless of your immigration status, housing insecurity, age, race, or ability. JCPA Criminal Justice Reform

Our co-chair, Nina Lukin, attended the JCPA Criminal Justice Reform - A Jewish Call to Action in NYC last month. "I was thrilled to be able to join influential leaders including: Jason Flom, Founder and CEO of Lava Records and host of Wrongful Conviction, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (8th District) who created a bi-partisan criminal justice reform bill and the FIRST STEP ACT, Jim Johnson of the Brennan Center for Justice, and Evie Litwok of Witness to Mass Incarceration."
