Build a Miracle
Take a Look at What your Build A Miracle Friends have been up to!
Building Homes
Educating Their Children in Small Groups at BAM Houses
Graduating from the New BAM Business Training Program
Dear Build a Miracle Friends,
Every time we sit down to write a newsletter we feel bad we have not sent you updates more often because we know how much each of you love BAM.
There are so many beautiful things going on that we want to share
EACH AND EVERY DAY,
but then again, so much is going on EACH AND EVERY DAY that it is really hard to find the time to share the many miracles that our friends in Tijuana are making happen.
That being said, at least today, we will try to share a few things going on.
You would be so proud...
Despite the pandemic, they have survived.
And THRIVED!
Thanks to you, hundreds left without income during Covid were supported with food or $50 a week to help feed their families
Those who could not afford to pay for their medicines or medical care were supported
Tarps were given to families to keep the rain out of their shacks
They have helped others to have better lives
Thanks to you, children who live next to the dump have been fed and cared for
50+ children are fed everyday by a couple who lives in one of our homes.
They are also taught to read and write because they are unable to attend school
Thanks to you, the Dad's Program has grown
Participating in the Dad's Program, fathers from our communities gather together on Sundays to help build homes for neighbors who do not own their land

They have developed great bonds as 50-60 of them work on 5-6 different homes each weekend
Many have tearfully said the Sundays working with other good men has improved their lives as they have developed strong friendships and learned building skills while serving their neighbors
Thanks to you, community members have been able to stay healthy

Health Education, Nutrition, and Exercise Classes
And earn hours towards their homes
Volunteering each week cleaning up the Community Center
Cleaning up their communities
And building homes for their neighbors
They have continued to educate their children
Small Learning Pods
One of the things we are most proud of!
450 children have been participating each week in small learning pods outside of 27 different Build A Miracle homes
Schools in Mexico have been closed for over a year and most from our communities were not able to participate in online learning or complete learning packets that were sent home due to lack of education on the part of their parents or technical equipment in their homes,
so last summer these learning pods were developed so that every child from our homes had the opportunity to continue their education.
There's a learning pod for special needs children
Physical Education Classes
Computer Classes
Music Classes
Even preschool age children have classes
Thanks to You, We Have a Home
Reading and Writing Program
Hundreds of books and composition journals were purchased to share between the communities
- Since we have never seen a book in any of our homes

Community Leaders distribute books to share

Children read and write in their homes for 30 minutes each day
They have continued to improve their lives
Thanks to You, 145 young people receive
High School or College scholarships

They teach classes and help at the Community Center
Attend motivational classes at the Community Center

Participate in hikes
Work at the community garden

And other outdoor activities to keep them healthy and engaged with positive experiences

They also have received laptops to be able to learn from home
Adult Education
Thanks to You, 127 adults from our communities are taking classes taught by
Build A Miracle college graduates to earn their elementary, middle and high school diplomas
Business Program

Small Business Training Classes
This month they celebrated the first graduating class of 37 students!
Thanks to You, 40 families have been given loans to start or expand their own small businesses
Trades- Beauty School Program
Last weekend 63 students graduated from our beauty school.
These amazing women will be able to start their own home businesses in
hair cutting, coloring, nails, makeup, etc.
Or at least they will save money being able to cut the hair of their own family, friends, and relatives.
Dental Program
Almost 300 people have participated in the dental program - many going to the dentist for the first time!
Community Leadership
All this is possible thanks to our
20 community leaders and sub leaders.
They spend their days visiting people in our homes, sharing class schedules and making sure children are showing up to the learning cells, and seeing if families need any type of help.
They find new families and organize work projects for them to earn hours toward their homes.
Learning New Skills
They take computer classes to better support programs.
They hand out books so all the children in their communities can participate in the daily reading program.
They check children in to classes, take their temperatures, and make sure they have their masks, etc.
They set up tables for teachers and prepare the outdoor learning classrooms.
All This Going on PLUS 3 Huge Build A Miracle Projects!
#1 The business building is scheduled to be
finished next month.

There will be 3 businesses located on the first floor for people to run and earn money from the profits as well as learn how to run and improve their own small home businesses.
The second floor will house all of our adult education classes and the sewing program.
#2 Villa Margarita- Build a Miracle's own community with
plans for 25 homes and 6 small businesses.
The final plans are with the engineers and after being approved by the city, we will start.
#3 Community Center Expansion- 16,000 sq ft

We have raised about 25% of our goal for the expansion. Plans are almost ready to go to the city, and then we will start at least building the retaining walls and pad for the first floor which will include space for all of our trades, auditorium, and office expansion.
And We Haven't Even Talked About Home Building Yet!
In the midst of all the education, self improvement, and empowerment,
28 homes were built in 2020 and 25 homes are finished or
scheduled so far for 2021!
Small groups have begun to come down again to help and share in the building experience with their BAM families
It is hard to describe the emotion that people feel when we tell them that after 2-3 years of volunteering hours for BAM in order to earn their home,
making sure that their kids are in school, that they own their land, and have participated in classes, seen psychologists, etc., that they have earned their home and we will begin building it...
Instead of trying to describe it,
Watch the video of this mother’s reaction after we told her the good news that she had a sponsor for her home
All of this is possible THANKS TO YOU and the ways you care,
believe in the people, and have helped to develop a community that cares for one another.
God Bless You and
Thanks For Building Miracles!
2021 Build Dates
So far we have just been taking small groups of people to build who have sponsored homes since most of our friends in Mexico have not had the opportunity to be vaccinated yet.
We know that soon, as more of them become vaccinated, we will open up build days to more volunteers.
We thank you for your patience!
The support you have given has brought an amazing gift to this community and it continues to grow and change more lives with each passing day!
Thanks for being a part of the
Build A Miracle family!
