55 Sport Yacht

There’s no shortage of excitement at the Viking plant in New Gretna, New Jersey. Not only are we busy building our industry-leading sportfishing yachts – including three new convertibles, the 82, 74 and the recently announced 50 – we’re also laser-focused on manufacturing the new Valhalla Boatworks 55 Sport Yacht. The hull (above) and deck (below) of the first boat have already been pulled from their molds and moved to the mechanical stage.

This luxury high-performance sport yacht will utilize the proven patented double-stepped hull of our V-55 center console. Virtually all other facets of the boat will be different, including the interior and deck. The image above provides a clear view of the foredeck, where you will have a sunpad and a wraparound lounge with a table accessible via the port sidedeck.

The stern – shown above as it moves forward on the production line – will include port and starboard fold-down balcony doors, as well as an aft garage-style storage area with access to dockside electrical and water connections. Boarding platforms will be outboard of the engines.

Above: The deck is positioned over the hull via overhead hoists. Major interior components, including the yacht’s two staterooms, two heads and a Seakeeper 10, have already been installed. The next step is for our shipwrights to secure the hull and deck using adhesive, fiberglass tabbing and mechanical fasteners.

The pilothouse is also making significant progress. Its liner (left) and top (right) are bonded with a special methacrylate marine adhesive, shown below being dispensed.

The installation of the liner into the pilothouse was overseen by key Viking shipwrights, including New Product Development Manager Rudy Dalinger (blue shirt), our longest-tenured employee who has been building a better boat every day since 1964 when the company was founded.
