A Letter from Herb
Building a Future
Over the past year many aspiring employees have been re-evaluating their careers and their employment goals. Several young and ambitious trailblazers are asking; does my hard work pay off or how can I grow within a company and continue to learn while sharpening my skills? You don’t have to look very far to find that The Herb Chambers Companies, the largest automotive dealer in New England, has a variety of career options to consider. You just need to reach out!
Anthony Dinardi, Service Director at Herb Chambers Mercedes-Benz of Boston, did just that 22 years ago. Ready to work hard and do what it takes to establish himself, Anthony started working as the “parts and delivery guy”. He admits to not having much experience at first. Nevertheless, whenever possible he found himself “hanging” with the Porsche techs, as Mercedes-Benz and Porsche shared a building at that time. They were the ones to “show him the ropes”. Anthony recalls that they were very receptive to his curiosity, and he liked that he could “take things apart.” Fortunately for the rest of us, he learned to put things back together as well.

Recently, we asked Anthony to share his advice and experiences with being part of a leading Herb Chambers dealership. A reserved gentleman who likes to stay under the radar and lead by example, we were able to garner a bit of insight into how a parts and delivery person, turned roadside tech, now finds himself directing a 60+ group of talented service and master technicians every day.

Q: We all want to get to know you a little better. What can you tell us?
A: My name is Anthony Dinardi.  I am the Service Director at Herb Chambers Mercedes-Benz of Boston. I have been working here for 22 years. I grew up 11 miles north of here.  I am from Stoneham where I currently still live with my wife of 17 years and my 4 children.

Q: Did you always know you wanted to work in the automotive industry?
A: No not really. I purchased my first car and a friend at a local repair shop let me come in and tinker with it in the garage. I liked getting my hands dirty. Later my uncle who worked as a limo driver for Mercedes-Benz of Boston told me about an opportunity here at the dealership. Back then, I took all the hours they would give me. I would come in during the afternoons and pull the orders for parts and delivery. Once I finished that up, I would sneak into the garage and just start asking all kinds of questions. I started coming back at night to install CD players and speakers, those features didn’t come built in the cars in the 90’s.

Q: Did you go to a technician school?
A: Yes. I went to Benjamin Franklin Institute. A few of the techs here attended BFIT and so I enrolled. I have a degree in Automotive Technology.

Q: When a prospective technician comes in for an interview what do you tell them about how to be successful at a Herb Chambers dealership?
A: I tell them that it’s not about being the loudest. You get the recognition by fixing the cars properly. It’s what you do, not what you say.

The story of Anthony’s career path highlights what key attributes The Herb Chambers Companies distinguishes for success and what it will take to make it happen. His story is one example of the many career accomplishments throughout the company.  Herb Chambers offers technicians and all of their employees the necessary training and resources to develop a promising career. It’s often been said that happy employees will make for happy clients. We at Herb Chambers are fortunate to have both!

Whether you have the drive and ambition like Anthony or are simply curious about what other types of opportunities, The Herb Chambers Companies can offer, explore the Herb Chambers Careers page and learn more. Or stop into one of our locations to meet the team. You’ll be happy you did!
2021 Ram 1500
By NewCarTestDrive.com
What’s on the menu when ordering up a 2021 Ram 1500? Everything. Frugal buyers can bring home a nice-riding work truck; well-heeled types can get Mercedes-AMG acceleration in truck drag. In between lies a variety of engine, trim, and technology choices for every purse and purpose.

The most relevant updates for 2021 are new available features including a head-up display, rear camera mirror, and an automatic reverse steering system. But the big news comes served on a platter of tire smoke and engine roar: Ram has dropped the Hellcat V-8 into their light-duty pickup. Dubbed the TRX, this ferocious Ram brandishes 702 horsepower.

The NHTSA was impressed enough by the crashworthiness of the four-door crew cab model that they awarded it five stars overall. The IIHS called crew cabs with the priciest headlights a Top Safety Pick+; crew cab models without those headlights didn’t get the accolades but still aced the battery of crash tests administered by the IIHS.

Charging an electric vehicle? Easier than you think
Electric vehicles (EVs) are the future of transportation, offering a fun to drive alternative to traditional gas-fueled cars as well as lower maintenance costs. Almost every major automaker is introducing new electric models - from SUVs and trucks to sports cars and motorcycles - providing drivers with a variety of desirable options now, and even more in the near future.

EVs are becoming so widely available that more than 500 different EV models will be available globally by 2022, according to estimates from Bloomberg New Energy Finance. That means potentially millions of new EV drivers will soon be saying goodbye to gas and hello to electric recharging.

To support this growing need for EV recharging, significant investments are being made concerning charging stations, making it easier than ever to own an EV.

Herb Chambers is also proud to help support these organizations.
2021 Porsche Macan
By KBB.com
The Macan is Porsche’s best-seller. It’s an exceptionally sporty vehicle that combines the back-road skills of its 911 sibling with the versatility of a compact SUV.

All Porsche Macans come standard with a rear-biased all-wheel drive (AWD) system for a sporty feel. Three engines are available. The base Macan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 248 horsepower. In the Macan S, a single-turbo 3.0-liter V6 produces 348 horsepower, while the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 in the Macan GTS is even more potent, producing 375 horsepower. Fed more boost, the same twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 also powers the 2021 Porsche Macan Turbo, where it generates a stout 434 horsepower.
