SNHBA LAUNCHES 'START FRESH BUY NEW' CAMPAIGN
SNHBA has launched a new "Start Fresh Buy New" marketing campaign to promote builder members' new homes.
The campaign centers around the recently launched website,
www.BuyNewHomesLV.com, which was developed by a subcommittee of the association's Sales and Marketing Committee, SNHBA member Team AMC advertising agency and SNHBA online partner Builders Digital Experience.
The multi-media campaign presents information about the value of newly constructed homes compared with resale homes, and encourages potential homebuyers to 'start fresh' by purchasing a newly constructed home.
"A lot of people think new homes are more expensive based on sales' prices and that's where they stop," said subcommittee member
Bonnie Hernandez of American West Homes. "If they continue doing the math, they'll find there's much more to it - lower costs and more benefits."
In addition to Hernandez, the subcommittee members who developed the campaign include SMC Chairman
John McLaury of KB Home,
Ron Rulof of Team Power Marketing,
Jen Haack of KB Home and
Chelsea Covington of StoryBook Homes. SNHBA also thanks
Eric Selvig of Team AMC and
Chad Bria of BDX for their significant contributions to development of the campaign.
The following builder member companies provided new-home photographs for the new website:
- American West
- KB Home
- Pardee Homes
- Richmond American
- Shea Homes
- Storybook Homes
- Toll Brothers
- Warmington Residential
- Woodside Homes

REAL ESTATE EXPO SET FOR APRIL AT ORLEANS ARENA
|
The Orleans Arena - site of the 2017 Real Estate Expo Las Vegas
|
SNHBA is pleased to announce that plans are well underway for the 2017 Real Estate Expo Las Vegas, a unique event that brings together real estate and homebuilding industry professionals and potential homebuyers.
Real Estate Expo is set for
April 20-23 at the impressive Orleans Arena on West Tropicana Avenue, west of I-15. The expansive facility will allow Expo to feature more and varied exhibitors, speakers and seminars...and there's plenty of free onsite parking.
SNHBA is among the major supporters of Real Estate Expo, which was launched earlier this year by the association's Sales and Marketing Committee, and in particular, member Mike Sweeney of Finance of America Mortgage. The first Expo was April 8-9 at the Cashman Center in downtown Las Vegas. Based on the success of that initial effort, SNHBA and the Expo team are moving forward with next year's Real Estate Expo Las Vegas.
SNHBA members are invited to attend the free 2017 Real Estate Expo Las Vegas preview and kickoff cocktail party set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 25 at the Orleans Arena Lounge (3rd floor of the arena.)
Scores of real estate and homebuilding industry professionals and special guests are expected at the preview and kickoff party, which will include tours of the Orleans Arena. Please RSVP now to info@realestateexpolv.com.

INDUSTRY TURNS OUT FOR HEARING ON BLM ISSUES
SNHBA thanks the many members who turned out in force for the Congressional field hearing on July 26 at the North Las Vegas City Hall Council Chamber.
The House Committee on Natural Resources, on which Rep. Cresent Hardy, R-NV, serves, heard testimony about newly imposed and burdensome mineral rights' policy by the Bureau of Land Management.
In particular, SNHBA thanks longtime, supportive member David Jennings of D R Horton for testifying on behalf of the association and the local homebuilding industry about the impact of the mineral rights' policy on the industry. Jennings is a member of the association's Land Use Committee.
Jennings explained to the congressmen that the BLM began in 2013 to impose mineral rights' policies on homebuilders' land that was purchased many years ago at BLM land auctions. Since then, the BLM launched a program of imposing fees and fines on builders for "trespassing" and "unauthorized uses" of the "minerals" on the builders' land previously owned by the BLM. The policy is costing many Las Vegas' builders tens of thousands of dollars in expenses for the fees, fines and legal action.
Jennings said the BLM policy is part of a "disturbing trend occurring in many federal agencies that are adopting policies that are inconsistent with existing regulation in lieu of notice and comment rulemaking."
He called upon the lawmakers to halt the BLM policy until the policy can be reviewed, modified and clarified to provide more certainty of future enforcement, and minimize adverse impacts on Nevada's homebuilding industry, other businesses and the overall economy in metropolitan Las Vegas.
The congressmen also heard testimony from representatives of local government jurisdictions, including Clark County and the Regional Flood Control District; non-profit groups, such as Opportunity Village, and a UNLV economist - all of whom testified about the negative impacts of the BLM mineral rights' policy.
