The association's government affairs department is working on many issues of importance to its members, the industry and homebuyers.

NEVADA LEGISLATURE
SNHBA thanks the members for supporting the preservation of the Homeowners Protection Act of 2015, which made significant improvements to NRS Chapter 40. Our legislators heard our message to preserve state laws that provide contractors with the right to repair and homeowners with avenues to resolve grievances.

Matt Walker, SNHBA government affairs director and interim executive director, recently gave a presentation about Chapter 40 to the Las Vegas chapter of the Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. SNHBA thanks the NAHREP chapter for the opportunity to provide information to its members about Nevada's construction defect litigation laws. For additional information about this issue, contact Matt Walker at [email protected].

CITY OF HENDERSON ONLINE CUSTOMER GUIDE
The association hosted a presentation by Christopher "Topher" Barnes of the city of Henderson about the city's EnerGov Online Customer Guide, which is a new system for land and permit management. SNHBA thanks Mr. Barnes and the members who attended his informative and important presentation at the association's office. For information about this new system, send an email to [email protected].

RESIDENTIAL FIRE SPRINKLERS
The association participated in recent workshops about residential fire sprinklers that were conducted by the city of Las Vegas' fire department. The city is considering two ordinances regarding requirements for fire sprinklers in new homes. SNHBA will provide updates as this issue progresses. For additional information about the residential fire sprinkler issue, contact Matt Walker at [email protected].

The association thanks Liz for her service to the community on behalf of the industry.
