Registration has begun for the
SNHBA/HomeAid Installation and Awards Luncheon, sponsored by CAMCO, scheduled for 11:15 a.m., Thursday,
December 7 at the Four Seasons Resort.
The association and HomeAid chapter will install the officers and directors for 2018, and present several awards to outstanding members and supporters.
SNHBA President Wayne Laska of StoryBook Homes will pass the gavel to incoming President Kent Lay of Woodside Homes. Also, HomeAid Southern Nevada President Trent Scarlett of Wells Cargo will hand over the chapter presidency for next year to Amy Thill of Warmington Residential.
The price is $55 per person. For a reserved table of 10, please register 10 persons. Reservations are required by November 28.

MEMBERS ENJOY OKTOBERFEST MIXER AT CADENCE
EVENT RAISES $1,700 FOR LAS VEGAS VICTIMS' FUND

The new Adventure Park at Cadence master-planned community was the site of the association's Oktoberfest membership networking mixer.
|
More than 100 SNHBA members and special guests turned out for the association's
Oktoberfest Membership Networking Mixer, hosted by The LandWell Co./Cadence, the evening of October 19 at the Cadence master-planned community in Henderson.
The association has contributed the $1,700 in proceeds from the mixer to the Las Vegas Victims' Fund to assist those impacted by the 1 October shooting on the Strip.
SNHBA thanks The LandWell Co., and its Cadence team, in particular, VP of Marketing Cheryl Persinger Gowan, for outstanding hospitality and support!

SNHBA FALL GOLF TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS!

Players from Wells Cargo took home the "Overall Tournament Winner" trophies at the SNHBA Fall Builders Classic, hosted by Central Valley Insulation, a TruTeam company, on October 13 at the Angel Park Golf Club.

The "Overall Tournament Winner" was the
Wells Cargo foursome of Trent Scarlett, Jade Rosenberg, Terry Bartu and Chris Koenig. The players also won "1st Place Team" on the Mountain Course.
"1st Place Team" on the Palm Course went to Ivan Kremer, Shane Markuson, Robert Johnson and Sam Leone on the
Tri-Core Surveying foursome.
The "2nd Place Team" on the Mountain Course was the
Masonite foursome of Bob Westby, Nico Wood, Rick McPherson and Edee Bennett. "2nd Place Team" on the Palm Course was Jeremy Gill, Dan Lai, Paul Hughett and Chriss Marino on the
Lennox foursome.

SPRING GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR MAY 11 AT PAIUTE
Please mark your calendars and plan to participate in the association's
2018 Spring Builders Golf Classic scheduled for Friday,
May 11 at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort.
Player registration and sponsorship sales will begin in February. Please watch your Inbox for the launch of registration and sales. Based on past tournaments, the spring tournament will sell out about three weeks after the launch.

Nearly 300 members turned out for the members-only
"Turn the Tables" Night/Associate Member Appreciation Networking Mixer, sponsored by NV Energy, on
September 27 at the Orleans Hotel Conference Center.
The mixer brought together Builder and Associate members for a unique opportunity for one-on-one, face-to-face networking.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT - BRIAN GORDON
SNHBA salutes member Brian Gordon for his outstanding support and involvement in the association. Brian is an active member of the association's board of directors, the Executive Committee, the Land Use Committee, the Sales and Marketing Committee and several working groups that focus on specific issues of importance to the association and the industry. He has contributed significant research and data on a variety of economic and housing topics to assist the association with special projects.
Brian is a principal at Applied Analysis and its sister firm, SalesTraq, both highly respected research and analysis companies in Southern Nevada. He graduated, with honors, from UNLV, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis on accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Accredited in Business Valuation credential from the American Institute of CPAs.

PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN BUILDING COUNCIL UPDATE
The association and its chapter of Professional Women in Building thank all those who contributed so generously to the donation drive conducted in conjunction with "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in October.
The chapter collected items, such as diapers, baby wipes, formula, feeding bottles, feminine hygiene products, pajamas and socks for women and children that were donated to Safe Nest, the non-profit organization devoted to the issue of domestic violence in Clark County since 1977.
In particular, we thank the SNHBA member companies that hosted collection boxes at their offices -
CalAtlantic Homes,
CAMCO,
Pardee Homes and
Sun West Custom Homes. A collection box was set up at the SNHBA office during the month of October.
The NAHB Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) is the voice of women in the building industry, dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting members at the local, state and national levels. Through education, professional development and networking opportunities, PWB helps members acquire and develop valuable leadership and business management skills that boost career success. Also, the council offers various national recognition programs, scholarships and awards.

Findlay Automotive Group Contributes $7,100 to HomeAid
The Findlay Automotive Group, one of the largest dealership chains in the West, recently contributed $7,100 to HomeAid Southern Nevada.
Findlay Automotive Group Chief Financial Officer Tyler Corder said during the check presentation ceremony that the company is very impressed with HomeAid. "We were specifically looking for a way to make an impact on homelessness in the Las Vegas Valley. We found that HomeAid of Southern Nevada is making a tremendous effort to help deal with the problem. We are very impressed with the work being done by HomeAid and we're happy to support their efforts. Our hope is that others may also be inspired to support this great organization." Calcaterra Rehabilitation Project

The chapter will start renovation work on the final two buildings at the complex in the first quarter of 2018. The Calcaterra apartment complex of six buildings provide quality shelter for families transitioning from homelessness.

'Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Month' Preparations
The chapter is sponsoring a campaign for "Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Month," a national effort in November to bring awareness to the issues of hunger and homelessness. The campaign includes "Pizza with a purpose" - dine-in, takeout or catering from the California Pizza Kitchen in Downtown Summerlin from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday, November 16. Bring the promotional flyer (click here for the flyer) and California Pizza Kitchen will donate 20 percent of the check to HomeAid Southern Nevada. Thank you, CPK!
A big "thank you" goes to Nicole Bloom, division president of Richmond American Homes, and the company's VP of sales, for their outstanding support of HomeAid Southern Nevada. They braved the cold water in a dunk tank to raise $500 for the chapter at the Richmond American Homes' company picnic in October.

MEMBER NEWS
Lennar Corp. and
CalAtlantic Group Inc. announced last week the merger of the two companies to create the nation's largest homebuilder with revenues of more than $17 billion in the past 12 months and equity market capitalization, based on current market prices, of about $18 billion. The combined company will control about 240,000 homesites, and will have about 1,300 active communities in 49 markets in 21 states.

Toll Brothers' Regency at Summerlin is a finalist in several categories, including "Best 55+ For Sale Community over 200 Homes," "Best 55+ Detached Home 2,501-3,000 Sq. Ft," "Best 55+ Clubhouse or Amenity Center" and "Best 55+ Sales or Leasing Center."
In addition, Toll Brothers' Regency at Damonte Ranch in Reno is a finalist in the category of "Best 55+ Indoor Common or Amenity Space." Mike Aguilar of Toll Brothers in Reno is a finalist in the category of "Best 55+ Lifestyle Director."
William Lyon Homes' Ovation at Mountain Falls in Pahrump is a finalist in the category of "Best 55+ Independent Living Community-On the Boards."
The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on
January 9 at the NAHB International Builders Show in Orlando.
Platinum Home Mortgage recently launched a major expansion in the West with the appointment of longtime mortgage executive
Michael Sweeney as the new division manager. Joining Sweeney are industry veterans:

JJ Kingery to senior marketing manager from marketing manager. Kingery has worked for the company nearly 12 years.
Jay Haunschild has joined Interior Specialist Inc. as Nevada regional controller. Previously, he was the chief financial officer at Blue Heron.
John Lopez has accepted the position of senior director of government relations at Federal Advocates Inc. in Washington, D.C. Previously, Lopez was government and regulatory affairs manager at Cox Communications and government affairs manager at the city of Las Vegas.
Pulte Group has promoted
Shane Markuson to director of land acquisition from manager of land acquisition.
Lonette Nagy, production manager at Pinnacle Homes, recently marked her 15th anniversary with the home building company.
Rhett Butler was named director of quality assurance at Carpets N More. Previously, he was regional construction manager at KB Home.
Kenneth Ditillo is co-owner of Ready Renovation and Construction. Previously, he was vice president of production at Loftco.

INDUSTRY NEWS
The
Las Vegas Department of Building & Safety recently informed customers that the department is changing the building permit to allow electronic printing. Permits will no longer be on pre-printed card stock. Instead, the permits will be on 8 1/2 by 11-inch paper. Also, inspections will no longer be listed on the permit, but the full list of inspections is available still on the department's website.

The National Association of REALTORS recently presented a Platinum Global Achievement Award to the Global Business Committee of the
Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS. The award was presented November 4 at the REALTORS Conference & Expo in Chicago. GLVAR's Global Business Committee focuses on international real estate opportunities and education.
