United General District 304 is taking the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously. We are following recommendations from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
, along with
state

local
health agencies, by cancelling or postponing gatherings. Help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities and reduce the number of people impacted.
- Protect yourself: clean your hands often and avoid close contact with other people.
- Take steps to protect others: stay home if you are sick, cover coughs/sneezes with a tissue or elbow, and disinfect surfaces often.
- Seek out trusted information and follow the most current advice.

Suicide Prevention with Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)
Like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. In a 90-minute training, anyone can learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide, listen and offer hope, and get help for someone they know. This best-practice suicide prevention is taught in small groups to allow for discussion and questions for our certified facilitators.

Voices for Youth Marijuana Prevention
Over 50 teens from our region were recently trained as Peer Educators in the Peer 2 Peer (P2P) marijuana prevention program. Peer Educators learn about media literacy, facts about youth marijuana use, and refusal skills to model positive habits for younger students. For questions about P2P, contact

Spotlight on the Education Citation Program
In February, Program Coordinator Danika Troupe, along with Skagit County Sheriff Deputy Paul Wolfe had the honor of presenting at
CADCA
National Leadership Forum in Washington D.C. about our innovative Education Citation Program (ECP).
In partnership with law enforcement across Skagit County, our innovative Education Citation Program (ECP) helps young people stay out of the criminal justice system. With ECP, a minor caught with alcohol or marijuana has one opportunity to complete education with a school or community counselor instead of being charged. The program benefits not only the young people who are given a chance to learn from their mistake and connect to further resources, but saves time and money from our tax-payer funded courts.
