APRIL 5, 2026

The recent Bridging the Gap Legislative Breakfast in Hartford brought together community leaders, legislators, and refugee service providers to advocate for sustained investment in Connecticut’s immigrant and refugee communities. We were deeply grateful for the participation of Representatives Kate Farrar and Hector Arzeno, whose engagement underscored the importance of this work. We also extend our appreciation to our fellow resettlement partners, for their continued collaboration and shared commitment.

A focal point of the event was an essential funding proposal currently under consideration through the Governor’s Federal Response Fund. This funding would play a vital role in ensuring that immigrants and refugees continue to receive the services and support they need as they work toward stability, self-sufficiency, and meaningful integration in our communities.

Together, we remain committed to strengthening the systems that welcome newcomers and build a more inclusive Connecticut for all.

JFS participated in the New Canaan High School Health Fair, where students connected with local wellness and mental health resources. Megan Grasso, Assistant Clinical Director and Caleb Connor, LPC-A represented the JFS Bennett Center for Behavioral Health, sharing information on counseling services.

Megan and Caleb spoke with students interested in stress management and emotional well-being, highlighting our commitment to supporting individuals with accessible, compassionate care. We appreciate New Canaan High School for inviting JFS and look forward to continued collaboration in promoting student wellness.

JFS Norwich recently attended the Chamber of Eastern Connecticut’s Business Luncheon and Annual Meeting, featuring Governor Ned Lamont. The event brought together business and community leaders from across the region for an inspiring afternoon of meaningful conversations, valuable connections, and thoughtful discussion about the future of Eastern Connecticut’s economic growth. Opportunities like this allow us to stay engaged, learn from regional partners, and continue building relationships that support our learners and strengthen the communities we serve.

JFS is looking for compassionate community members who want to make a difference. Whether you can give an hour a week or help with a special project, your time and talents directly support our programs and the individuals and families we serve.
