Resources, funding, and events to advance inclusive and equitable school communities
The end of a fiscal year always gives us an opportunity to look back and look ahead. As we reflect on another year of helping Virginia's schools, businesses, and communities achieve success through inclusion, there is much to celebrate and much to look forward to at the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities!
Continuing our trend from the last several years, VCIC has once again broken every record in our history in terms of the number of programs conducted, media mentions, and donations received to support our program work. We are especially proud that the 525 workshops, retreats, forums, and presentations VCIC has led during the current fiscal year reflect an increase of 85% since 2017 and nearly 1,500% over the last thirteen years!
FY20 starts on July 1, and there are many important program initiatives already in the works that will move us closer to VCIC's vision of a Virginia where every person is included and where prejudice, intolerance, and fear of facing those issues don't stand in the way of success for our schools, businesses, and communities.
Our next update will be sent in September. As you plan for the 2019-2020 school year, please let us know how VCIC can partner with you. Contact our office by phone at (804) 515-7950 or by emailing Jessica Hawthorne (Director of Programs).
VCIC's Educational Equity Initiative develops administrators and teachers who are passionate, committed, and prepared to lead efforts to eliminate disparities based on race, national origin, and socio-economic status. This summer, we are pleased to facilitate 3 EEI programs for school districts across Virginia. Click here to learn more.
