Big picture scope of this project includes:
- The entire exterior of the building will be washed & cleaned.
- Limestone will be repaired where it is cracking & falling apart.
- All exterior joints will be resealed.
- All exterior entrances will be scraped, sealed and repainted.
- Asbury and Aldersgate Wing doors will be replaced and/or painted.
- The brick façade on the exterior gym walls will be removed and replaced with metal siding to match the New Room, and exterior sheathing repaired and made water-tight.
The end result will be a clean, water-tight, and better-insulated building that will look bright, beautiful, and ready to welcome our existing and future congregation to Trinity’s HOME!
Current work includes cleaning sample sections of all limestone and brick surfaces to uncover accurate colors and properly match sealants. Also, in preparation for resealing, crews are scraping off all existing sealants where limestone meets the brick.
CHILDREN’S WING RENOVATIONS UPDATE
NEW FLOORING
Commercial Flooring Services Inc. began installation on new flooring in the Children’s Wings on Friday, October 13. Installation will take place two classrooms at a time, beginning with the Asbury Wing and followed by the Aldersgate Wing and hallways. We anticipate all flooring to be completed in December.
Sunday morning Children’s Ministry will be impacted on some of these weekends. Alternate locations will be communicated as soon as possible through Children’s Ministry and churchwide weekly emails and social media.
NEW CABINETS
LOC Scientific is scheduled to install all new cabinets, countertops, and sinks beginning Monday, November 20, and completed no later than Friday, November 24. These renovations necessitate that the Child Development Center close the entire week of Thanksgiving, November 20-24 (the CDC was already scheduled to be closed Wednesday – Friday) as well as all day on Friday, November 17, and all day on Monday, November 27, to reset classrooms and restore running water. Operating Standards of the Alabama Department of Human Resources require warm, running water in all rooms where diapering takes place. The water for the Children’s Wings must be cut off during the cabinet installation. Other than the Children’s Wings, our facility is not equipped with enough rooms to relocate care under these requirements. Closure dates have been communicated to all CDC families and tuition will not be charged during the week of closure.
Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry will be impacted on Sundays November 19 and 26. Alternate locations are being arranged and will be communicated as soon as possible through Children’s Ministry and churchwide weekly emails and social media.
EXTRA: KITCHEN FLOORING UPDATE
Insufficient expansion in the floor joints have created damage and dangerous conditions in the kitchen flooring. Therefore, the Kitchen and Wesley Hall will be closed November 3-9 for the installation of new Kitchen Flooring. All kitchen equipment and supplies will be stored in Wesley Hall during the demolition and installation. All scheduled events have been relocated, including the November 5 Chili Cookoff, which will take place in the Gym.
All in all, exciting improvements are taking place at Trinity! We are extremely humbled and grateful for your generosity of prayer, financial giving, and lay leadership which makes it possible for us to Secure, Strengthen, and Expand Trinity’s Home for Current & Future Generations!
