Hello David,

The Building in Saltsburg is ours!!!

On Thursday we finally closed on the property at 114 Point Street, Saltsburg, PA; and on Monday the real work begins. We got tied up dealing with the details of closing longer than we’d hoped, but with that time we’ve been lining up subcontractors, getting quotes, and cleaning out the building. Things will really start moving along now, and we still hope to be moved by the end of the summer.

In other great news, we’ve been offered a very generous matching grant of $100,000.

We still have a long way to go toward completion, but a generous offer has been sent our way. Recognizing that donations at this point will almost all be directed at the building we’ve been offered a matching grant that commits funds to our operating fund to ensure our future. For every dollar up to $100,000 that is donated toward the building the donor will match with a donation to our operating fund, doubling the value of your donation. We are currently right at 60% of the way toward our $600,000 goal, and we’re hoping this catapults us forward. If you’ve been considering donating, there couldn’t be a better time.

You can donate through the Join Us! page on our website, Donate Here.

We have also set up a Go Fund Me page which accepts donations of any size with more flexibility. It can be found here, Donate Through Go Fund Me.

A check sent to the address below is also welcomed form of donation.

Things will really move forward now making the need for funds greater. The architect has finished the drawings and will submit them for building permits on Monday for what should be a two week process. The contractor has obtained a demolition permit and will begin the preparations for new floors and concrete.

We will keep you updated as things progress.

For those who missed the first note, this 1850’s building was originally built to be a warehouse. In the 1860’s it gained its storefront and became a general store. In 1906 a furniture manufacturer moved in, and we’d like Plumier to bring back the tradition of woodworking in the building.

We will be adding a 28'x32' addition to the back to accommodate our cabinet shop, and the total space will add up to about twice what we presently have allowing us to help more people and realize our mission in a more efficient manner.

For more information on the location and building, have a look at the plan here: New Plumier Home!

To create the space needed to realize our full mission, a 28’x32’ addition will be added to the end of the building.

The building is situated next to Canal Park, the location of the old canal and later rail road, which goes back three blocks to two trail heads along the Conemaugh and Kiski Rivers and the Loyalhanna Creek, which surround the town on two sides.

As the Plumier community continues to grow, the additional space will become more and more important. We'll be able to add the allied crafts and introduce complex turning to people from all areas of craft.

With hard work and, perhaps, a bit of good fortune, we'll be completely moved into the new building before the end of the year. The goal is within reach, but again we can't do it without your help.

Please, help us if you’re able. Whether you’re only able to buy a door or window, or donate a large amount of money, it’s all important and will make a difference.

Your support will help us serve the OT and greater craft community better.

If you can’t afford to donate monetarily but have craft skills, consider donating a work of art or craft we can sell to raise money.

As always, many thanks to all of you support us and have given already. It's given us the confidence to move forward boldly. We couldn't do it without you.
