Happy Spring to all of our Habitat for Humanity friends and supporters! This time of year is always one of the most exciting for our organization. We just celebrated our 30th Home Dedication for Nikki Greaves and Alex Kannon. AND last week we announced the next Habitat homeowner will be Kim Paterno! This is also the time of year we host our annual spring fundraiser called The Big Kahuna Campaign. Four teams have stepped up to the plate and volunteered to fundraise on Habitat's behalf. Please visit the Kahuna 2021 website to learn about the teams and their members. Pick an individual player or a Kahuna team and please support their fundraising efforts. All proceeds from this campaign will help build our next two homes for Sheila Potter and Kim Paterno. Mark your calendar for Thursday, June 10th, 5-8pm at Booneshine Brewing when the winning team will be crowned The Big Kahuna. Individual or team donations must be received by 7:45pm on June 10th! THAT'S A WRAP!! The Greaves-Kannon Home On Saturday, May 22nd we gathered in Harris Park in our GreenWood Community and dedicated our 30th home. Construction leader, Mike Jennings handed the keys over to future homeowners Nikki and Alex and their children. Special thanks to Blowing Rock Methodist for sponsoring this Habitat home and participating in the dedication. Rumple Presbyterian provided refreshments while friends, family, Habitat staff and board members joined in celebration. Welcome to the neighborhood!

We are continuing to monitor state and local COVID-19 restrictions. We are THRILLED that our community is getting vaccinated and becoming healthier. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS beginning August 4th. Become a Wednesday Warrior or a Saturday Super-Hero! We can also accommodate other days of the week for your group's schedule. For many families in our community, affordable homeownership is becoming out-of-reach as the cost of purchasing a home is becoming impossible to afford. Help be a part of the solution by volunteering to build our Habitat homes working alongside future Habitat homeowners and skilled construction leaders.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! We are pleased to welcome Lowe's Home Improvement employee, Kim Paterno as our next future Habitat Homeowner. She is a familiar face with Watauga Habitat and was a Women Build 2020 volunteer. Kim's home will be built in our GreenWood neighborhood and plans are to break ground in September. This will be the third App Builds a Home Project. Congratulations, Kim! We look forward to helping you build your home!
