A Community of Safety and Support

The single most important aspect of mental health is feeling safe, and maintaining a safe and supportive community is key to creating an environment where relationships are built, conflicts are resolved, and positive change takes place. At Green Chimneys, students – and staff – are supported through a collaborative process called Restorative Practice. Trained Clinical, Support and Education staff lead students through discussions that center the experiences of those impacted in a conflict. Through open dialogue and collective problem-solving, the method fosters accountability and belonging, encouraging individuals to practice empathy and work together positively for a solution. Learn about the specific benefits of this method for our school community >

Snout Skills

Enrichment plays a crucial role at the Green Chimneys Farm & Wildlife Center, supporting the happiness and health of animals like our seven pigs. Foraging for food hidden under bowls and other obstacles, or engaging in mental and social stimulation exercises, are just some of the activities provided to our important animal partners. For instance, Winston is practicing button pressing, while Georgia and Peaches are honing their target training skills by touching their noses to objects. Also, students often participate in these activities, enhancing their interaction with animals and complementing other animal-assisted activities in our clinical programs.
