In the earliest days of Yachad, when our work was just beginning to be noticed in both the Jewish community and the broader D.C. area, we received a year-end donation of $2,500. I was deeply touched—someone had recognized the value of what we were doing and felt it was worthy of support at that level. I called the donor to thank her personally. She was grateful for the call and shared a beautiful hope for our future: one day, she envisioned a time when donations to Yachad would be so widespread that I would no longer have the time to call and thank every donor. I chuckled and said, “May it be so.”
I’m proud to say that in 2025, nearly 35 years later, Yachad has more than realized that donor’s vision. Thank you to each and every one of you who helped us reach this milestone. I would call you all individually, but as you can imagine, the list is now too long!
At Yachad, our mission remains clear: to close the racial wealth gap and improve the health of D.C. residents by stabilizing homeownership for lower-income families. Through a blend of large and small donations, we have the resources to address home repairs—from roof to basement—and everything in between. In 2025, we began an exciting new partnership with the DC SEU to provide electrification upgrades to some of our homeowners, giving them access to green technologies that promote sustainability.
In these uncertain times, your continued support is more important than ever. Yachad has always been about building bridges to foster equitable communities, and we invite you to be a part of this critical work.
