Harvesting Hope:

Fall Milestones You Made Possible

Together We Thrive: Abraham and Teresa’s Path to Homeownership

When Abraham and Teresa talk about their journey to homeownership, their words carry both relief and joy. For years, they lived with the constant fear of losing not just their jobs—but their home. “We had gone through a similar situation before,” they shared, “and it was not pleasant.”

Their turning point came when a co-worker mentioned Berthoud Habitat for Humanity. The idea of owning a home—something that once felt impossible—suddenly seemed within reach. “It gave us the idea that we could have our own home instead of paying the high costs of rent,” Teresa said.

The day they learned they had been selected as a partner family was unforgettable. “Uuuuuuuufff!! It was something extraordinary, exhausting, and exciting,” they said with a smile. “We still remember that moment and can’t believe it. Happy, happy!!!”

Although they didn’t participate in the full construction of their home, Abraham and Teresa have been hard at work on the remodeling—pouring love and sweat into every corner. “It’s exciting because we are shaping our future home,” they shared.

For them, this home represents more than walls and a roof—it’s stability, comfort, and a place where their grandchildren can visit and play.

“Knowing that we will soon have our own home and that we will no longer be adrift is very comforting”

Beyond their own story, Abraham and Teresa see Habitat as a movement of unity and hope.

“We’ve learned that as a united community, we can thrive more easily by helping one another.”

This November, as we celebrate gratitude and giving, Abraham and Teresa remind us what’s truly at the heart of Habitat—people coming together to build not only homes, but futures filled with strength, stability, and self-reliance.

Construction Updates

As we move into fall, our build sites are filled with steady progress and purpose — powered by the volunteers, students, and partners who make affordable homeownership possible for local families.

1778 N 4th Street – From Cherry Creek to Berthoud

Big progress was made this week at 1778 N 4th Street! The home built by students at the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus made its journey from Cherry Creek to Berthoud recently and was craned onto its foundation. This collaboration between educators, students, and industry professionals not only builds homes — it builds opportunity, workforce skills, and lasting community impact.

Students Building Skills and Community

At Thompson Valley High School, Geometry in Construction students are hard at work on their next Habitat home. The build is framed, sheeted, and ready for windows and doors — a testament to the students’ hands-on learning and commitment to service. Through this program, young builders are gaining valuable skills while contributing directly to affordable housing in our region.

Every milestone shows what’s possible when our community works together toward a shared goal: ensuring that everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. Thank you for being part of this mission to build homes, communities, and hope.
