WINTER 2019
BUILDING ON FAITH newsletter
There's still time to sign up to be a sponsor or attendee at this year's Dream Builder's Ball! We'll be celebrating our 25 years of operation, and we'll have a complimentary bar, raffle, silent auction, dancing and MORE!

NOTE: Proceeds from the Ball support Harford and Cecil county individuals and families, helping them to realize the dream of homeownership. We hope you'll join us!
How to be our faith partner
Source: Habitat for Humanity International

Since our beginning in 1976, Habitat has been built on a foundation of faith. Our mission is to build safe, affordable housing with people in the United States and around the world, and that comes from a desire to put God's love into action.

We are God’s hands and feet, here to serve others and show them His love. The tangible experiences that Habitat provides allow you to engage those around you, live your faith and offer a unique opportunity to love your neighbor. You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside future Habitat homeowners.

No experience is necessary to volunteer, and all faith groups are welcome. We will teach you everything you need to know on the build site, and there are a variety of tasks both indoors and outdoors to participate in that require all levels of skill and ability. We also can offer tailored experiences to fit your group such as a focus for students, singles or small groups.

Volunteering together provides a way for your faith group to have fun together while pursuing a common goal. You will be strengthening your community and empowering Habitat homeowners to build a better future for themselves. Your service will also deepen your ties to the neighborhoods around you and provide stability for the city you all share.

Whether your church or faith group travels 10 or 10,000 miles, we are certain that a difference will be made both in the lives of those you help as well as yourself.

URGENT call for volunteers!

We have an urgent need for volunteers at Kathryn's Havre de Grace house during March 7-9 . (A Collegiate Challenge group we were expecting had to cancel.) If you'd like to join us during this build, please sign up!
Churches get involved in Collegiate Challenge
Collegiate Challenge is an alternative break program for colleges across the country. It gives students the opportunity to serve with Habitat for Humanity affiliates during their winter or spring break instead of a "traditional" spring break option. We thank the following churches for their willingness to house these student groups as they come to build with us: Webster Congregational Christian Church (Havre de Grace), Presbury UMC (Edgewood), and First Presbyterian Church (Bel Air).
Mountain Christian Church's basket of cheer
At the end of the year, we had a fun visit from representatives of Mountain Christian Church who were bearing gifts of fruit, root beer, snacks and a coffee maker!

It was followed by an informational briefing by Executive Director Karen Blandford on our plans for building seven homes in Havre de Grace. If you're interested in a briefing about our efforts, contact us!
Wilna SDA's toys donation
The congregation at Wilna Seventh Day Adventist Church donated toys for Christmas to children of our Habitat homeowner families. Here are some fun pictures of that event!
