MARCH MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES
  • Plant spring bulbs for summer blooms! Come shop our amazing variety!
  • Apply ferti-lome's Fire Blight Spray to help control and prevent blight on crabapple, apple, ornamental, and fruit bearing pear trees when they begin to bloom. This is the only opportunity to apply this prevention.
  • Plant onions and potatoes in your garden.
  • Pre-emerge with EC Grow, ferti-lome For All Seasons II or Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper to turf areas through mid-March to prevent summer weeds from germinating.
  • The month of March marks the first of four applications to fertilize your cool-season lawns with Marcum's 18-6-12 or Milorganite. 
  • Apply ferti-lome Weed Free Zone , a post-emergent broad leaf herbicide, to cool and warm-season lawns to control broad leaf weeds.
  • You can begin over seeding cool-season turf grass in mid-March or when soil temperatures reach 50-65 degrees.
  • ferti-lome Dormant Oil may still be applied to all deciduous shrubs and trees to control mites, galls, overwintering aphids, etc.
  • Prune roses just before growth starts and use ferti-lome Rose and Flower Food with Systemic Insecticide as the foliage appears. 
  • In late March, dethatch warm season lawns.
