K-8 News & Events
Please read through the important dates and information that was shared in Mrs. Unegbu's News & Notes email from January 22.

Community Highlight: Last Friday, eighth graders were visited by NFCS alum Amaris Moody-Daniels. After sharing her journey of growing up in Northeast Philadelphia to attending NFCS for 8th grade and high school, she explained what chemical engineering was, as well as how the college experience at Penn State is like. She pushed students to pick a major based on what they truly love, and not because a parent wants them to do it or because students think it will get them a job that will make them a lot of money. Amaris also shouted out influential teachers from her high school experience, including Mr. Bullock, Ms. Dooley, and Mr. McGovern. She mentioned the importance of filling our FAFSA applications, as well as exploring scholarship opportunities through chapter fraternities, sororities, and other organizations. If that wasn't enough, our NFCS alum even shared her contact information for students in case they had additional questions to ask. Finally, our caring 8th graders asked how she was doing and provided her early birthday wishes! We are very appreciative of Amaris for taking the extensive time to speak with our middle school students, and are proud of how well she has continued to find success beyond New Foundations!
