Classroom Highlight: On Thursday 1/28/21, 7th-grade students had their Ceremony of Twelve, which is from the novel they recently finished, The Giver. Two surprise visitors made it to the ELA classes to "assign" students their jobs for life. The Chief Elders reported that they have been observing students for the last several months and listening to their interests to give them their careers that they will have for life, similar to the book. Students had a fun time giving mini speeches and cheering each other on. We can't wait to see what's next for them!

Bulldog Spotlight of the Week
Victoria Ngo
Victoria Ngo is a 2014 graduate of New Foundations Charter School. After high school, she enrolled in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of the Sciences. She completed her degree in May 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Soon after, she got her first job as a Physical Therapist in a skilled nursing facility, working with elderly residents. Sadly, Victoria never got to celebrate her accomplishments and new beginnings due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Last Friday, Victoria Ngo visited and spoke to current NFCS 8th graders. She spoke about her job, including helping to treat patients with Alzheimer's disease, and answered student questions. Eighth grade teacher Mr. Grant stated, "8B loved having Ms. Ngo! I was blown away by her response to a student asking for tips when working with someone with Alzheimer's disease. She gave great tips and even spoke on some of the misconceptions people have about Alzheimer's and Dementia."

We appreciate frontline healthcare workers like Victoria and all that they do to protect and serve our community!
