  • FREE Tutoring Opportunities are available remotely from our highly qualified and certified teachers. If you are interested, please contact your student's teacher or check our website.
  • NFCS Is Here to Help! If you live in a shelter, motel, or even doubled up with other people due to loss of housing for economic hardship, you may qualify for certain rights and protections under the federal McKinney-Vento Act. If you believe you may be eligible, contact Ms. Davenny, School Social Worker, at 215-344-6410 x8 or mdavenny@newfoundations.org to find out what services and supports may be available!
  • Community Resource: The Free Library of Philadelphia has opened some branches of their libraries to patrons, including the Torresdale Library branch. The hours for in-person browsing can be found by visiting their page. Any questions, you can email Ms. Ann Hornbach, their head librarian, at Hornbacha@freelibrary.org
Clubs & Activities Highlight
The Multicultural Book Club is a club for discussions and activities based on popular books that highlight other cultures both outside and inside of the US. This club is more about reading for fun than about any academic analysis of the books, and there are fun activities relating to the cultures that the students are reading about, such as: craft projects, online scavenger hunts, and art.
K-12 Hybrid Learning Corner
This new section of our newsletter will be your one-stop shop for information and updates as we transition to a hybrid mode of learning.
  • Check out the new updated Hybrid Learning Page of our website! We hope this page will be your go-to place for all of your Hybrid Learning needs.
  • Meal service is still available for remote students, but has moved to Wednesdays between 2:30-4:30pm at the High School Building beginning in March.
  • Please review our Return to In-Person Learning Report & Plan before we transition to our hybrid learning mode next week for lots of information and resources. There is information that is relevant even if your child will continue with remote learning only.

Attention 7th & 8th graders - do you want to know what it's like to be a student at our high school? We are offering Shadow Days this spring! Parents of 7th & 8th grade students should complete THIS FORM to give your permission and sign your child up for this opportunity. 6th grade Highlight: The 6th grade homerooms watched the documentary "What Tomorrow Brings" about the trials, tribulations, and courage of Afghani girls seeking an education. The hope and resilience of the girls within the film is awe-inspiring. Thank you to Ms. Allison for organizing!

  • Please remember that if your child has a doctor appointment or other excused absence (court date, death in family, etc.) it will only be excused with an official note from the doctor or other office. You can submit scanned notes to attendancek8@newfoundations.org.
  • Parents, please make sure to restock school materials for Semester 2. Attached, you will find links to the K-4 Supply list and the 5-8 Supply list.
  • Activity Highlight: In celebration of Women's History Month, we are spotlighting the achievements and experience of our alumni. 7th grade homerooms were visited by NFCS alum, Tara Doll, who works as a digital media editor. Tara showed off design work she has done for magazines such as Fourteenth and Refine. She spoke about her educational experience and what led her to journalism and digital media. Tara was able to answer questions from students and provide career and professional advice. Congratulations on all of your success, Tara. We are so proud of you!

Bulldog Spotlight of the Week
Ms. Peggy Thomas
Ms. Peggy Thomas is a New Foundations staff member who provides endless support at the high school building. Ms. Thomas has truly led the charge with building set up to ensure the HS would be ready for staff and students' return.

She has been non-stop in the building putting fresh paper on bulletin boards, hanging signage to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed, and organizing classrooms.

Join us in thanking Ms. Peggy for all that she does for our community!
