  • Classroom Highlight: Third Grade had the pleasure of experiencing Earth Day with Ms. Laura Cassidy, the Sustainability Manager at Philadelphia's Department of Prisons. Ms. Cassidy taught our third graders the process of creating enriched soil with compost, and the educational program they provide to incarcerated individuals. The program recycles all of the prison's food-waste to create a compost that then provides nutrient soil to the various crops in their orchard. That produce is then provided to local organizations and food banks in Philadelphia! After our assembly, students independently created Earth Day posters to encourage actions that will help keep our Earth healthy!

We are so excited to take this opportunity to celebrate our seniors and their plans for next year, whatever they might be. Visit the Our Seniors page and our NFCS social media pages to learn more about our individual student's plans. Congratulations to all!
