  • Classroom Highlight: Last Friday, students had a guest performance from the Conservation Caper. Check out this review from Mr. Schwartz's fifth grade class! "The presenters provided some excellent materials to warm the kids up. Students shared the ways their homes are heated, cooled, and how reliant we are on electricity. The students brainstormed the many types of renewable and non-renewable forms of energy. We then listed all the things we do that require electricity daily. Presented were very practical ways for students to be mindful of energy efficiency. They put in the chat ways they can begin conserving today. In the words of our classmates, the presentation was funny and taught me how to save energy!"

Bulldog Spotlight of the Week
Lana Vitale
Lana Vitale, a valued member of the NFCS community and one of our third graders, recently started growing a lima bean plant. Third grade is learning about the life cycle of a plant and the different parts. Lana took her learning a step further by growing her own lima bean seed. It started to grow so well that she potted the plant and now, after a few weeks, the plant has grown to be so big! Lana and her classmates have been observing Lana's plant, which has helped the students study the parts and see the life cycle in action.

With Lana's green thumb, we hope that the plant will soon flower and produce some more beans for her to grow, thus completing the life cycle. Way to go Lana!
