Students stage Little Women
When Little Women, the Musical takes the stage on Thursday, over 42 students and staff members will be onstage or behind the scenes to bring this show to life.

The musical focuses on sisters Meg, played by Kiley Brenneis: Jo, played by Emily Szura; Beth, played by Mary Parker; and Amy, played by Via Dennis; - and their beloved Marmee, played by Kayden Sees, at home in Concord, Massachusetts, while their father is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s American classic, this story of love and family stands the test of time. Audience members will have a delightful theatrical experience, with laughter, tears, and uplifting of the spirit as the March girls weave the story of their lives and young America trying to find its voice.

The 2022 Fall Musical is under the direction of Carry DeGruson.

Inclement Weather procedures and what you need to know
Winter weather will soon be upon us. When deciding whether to close schools, several factors are considered, including the amount of snowfall, the condition of residential and thoroughfare roads, temperature, and the ability to clear parking lots and sidewalks. We work closely with the weather service, and our team members personally travel the roads before making a final decision.

If school is canceled or the arrival/dismissal time is affected, an announcement will be made through our communication system using phone, text, and email; postings on social media and cjr1.org, and our local television stations. To ensure that you will receive notification, verify that your parent information is up to date in Parent Portal.

Honor Flight 2022
Carl Junction Technology Director Marshal Graham accompanied one of our CJ retirees, Jimmy Hawkins, on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Jim served as a Marine in Vietnam and later in the Army. Another CJ retiree and Air Force veteran, Norman Wininger, was also on the trip, accompanied by Primary 2-3 Librarian Lana Royster.

"I’ll admit I didn’t know much about Honor Flight before this trip. It is a fantastic opportunity for veterans to visit their war memorials. This trip had veterans who served in Vietnam, Korea, and even a few from World War II. Most of them had never visited DC or any of their memorials before this trip. I was humbled by what we experienced that day. From the 5 a.m. sendoff by the ROTC unit to the hundreds that greeted them coming home at 11:30 pm, the veterans were treated like heroes all day. At every stop, strangers were there to thank them," said Graham.

"First of all, thank you all who donated to this project. It is one of the most incredible experiences I have been blessed to be a part of. It was humbling, emotional, and exhausting! However, if you ever have the chance to participate, don’t miss it! The changing of the guard for the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington was very touching. To me, it signified all the sacrifices that these men had made," added Royster.
