Education Program on Dyslexia
You are invited to an interactive evening
where you will experience
what it is like to be
the 1 in 5 students
who have dyslexia.
Wednesday, October 23, 2019
7:00-9:00pm
Gale Ranch Middle School MPR
6400 Main Branch Rd, San Ramon, CA 94582
During this program you will:
- Experience what it feels like to have dyslexia by participating in simulation activity
- Learn what dyslexia is, isn't, and how it presents in the classroom
- Learn about the kind of instruction, intervention, and accommodations are most effective for students with characteristics of dyslexia
Representatives from Decoding Dyslexia CA's Tri-Valley Dyslexia Support Group will facilitate the simulation activity that includes reading and writing tasks that mimic what it's like to have a decoding/word recognition deficit. Following the simulation, Kristen Koeller, Educator Outreach Co-Manager for Decoding Dyslexia CA and now an SRVUSD Teacher on Special Assignment for Structured Literacy will provide an overview of dyslexia addressing the points above. Register to attend on
Eventbrite.
Decoding Dyslexia CA's Tri-Valley Dyslexia Support Group meets on the second Thursday of most months, 7:00-9:00pm at Bella Vista Elementary School.
This event is hosted by the SRV Council of PTAs Special Needs Committee.
