District Speaker
Safety & Wellness Coordinator Speaks at Bollinger Canyon

James Corral, the  Safety & Wellness Coordinator for SRVSD, spoke at Bollinger Canyon Elementary on Thursday, Nov. 15 regarding his new roll and how the district is focused on making our school more safe for our children.

He discussed how he is focused on driving safety in our school and preparing staff, students and parents on how to respond in natural and un-natural disasters.

Principal Offerman also highlighted some of the parent involved disaster drills the school has conducted to help prepare our school in case of natural and unnatural (shooter on campus) disaster.  They discussed the "Run," "Hide," "Defend" training that takes place across the schools in the district that was developed with our local police department.  He also discussed a new communications platform that is now in place for staff to immediately alert school and wider district of  any threat as it happens in real-time.

James also highlighted his work in the area of metal health of students and suicide prevention.  He discussed how he is working with school counselors to help students at risk for mental health issues.

James highlighted how he works closely with the San Ramon Police and Fire departments on disaster drills.  It was suggested we should offer a "Parent Talk" from these organizations to help parents be prepare to know how to get their children in the case of a disaster at our school.  Stay tuned for more details.
